Hey, I am a hobby jogger who started running in January this year and spent the first four month of the year building a base. I then started a 12 week 5k plan, where I was using heart rate to estimate my easy, threshold, interval and repetition paces. Prior to completing the plan with a 5k TT, I used my training paces and Jack Daniel's calculator to estimate my 5k time to be 19:15. All of my training have been done in New Balance 1080, but I decided run the TT in vaporflys. And to my surprise, I managed to run the 5k in 18:33.
I decided to extend the plan, to run a 10k race three weeks after the TT. According to Jack Daniel's calculator, a 18:33 5k means that my threshold pace is 3:58/km(6:24/mile). I have tried to hit this pace the last two threshold workout and boinked so hard, I couldn't even finish them. What is going on?? Am I just tired or do vaporflys increase my performance this much?
