Yes, the guy still has it.
He could do the treble in three years all things being equal.
That said, I doubt that he has any further motivation to run the marathon for the country.

What, it's going back to stupid France again? How many of them do these Frenchies want?
When does India get a chance? Giant developed country, wealthy cities, big movie industry.
Eliud would not be able to make the Kenya team in 3 years. He simply cannot hang in there that long. In 3 years Eliud will not be able to break 2:08.
LRC thinks he's in his late 40s. Time to accept his age is what he tells you because none of you know.

It doesn’t matter. Let us say Eliud is turning 37 in November as he is officially. In 3 years he will be almost 40. Eliud will no longer be the best. We know that for sure. Eliud is not going to win a gold medal in the Olympic marathon 21 years after he won a World Championship gold at 5000m. We know that for sure.

We don't know that for sure, he is in a class by himself, even if he declines he may not decline enough to be beaten.

We DO know that for sure. Intelligence matters. I suppose being in a class by yourself means that he will be winning Olympic marathons in his 70s. You people are so stupid it hurts me.

Can’t believe I’m agreeing with Douglas Burke of all people but we DON’T know that for sure.
Nothing in Olympics is for sure. And with a talent like Kipchoge, nothing is certain.

Actually we do know that for certain. Recency bias tricks mediocre minds. Intelligence matters. Eliud will not be able to break 2:08 in 3 years. This we know for sure. You people must think Eliud is not human. Eliud is doping of course but doping does not entirely prevent the deleterious repercussions of aging.

Exactly..he is the oldest looking 36 year-old guy out there but it doesn’t matter when you’re the fastest...not like he won a squeaker today, I wouldn’t bet against him....
What about Eugene 2022? People seem to forget the more important event in track and field.

The get a chance in 2036, but no chance if they don't friggin' bid, perhaps you should start lobbying the Indian Olympic committee and government now.
Meb won Boston’s at age 38. Kipchoge is a different class then Meb. So yeah I could see him winning the Olympic thon again in three short years.
Will he run break his 2:01 world record? I doubt it but he doesn’t need to. If he’s in 2:03-04 Berlin shape he can win. People on this site crack me up. They think when you turn 40 your legs fall off. 40 year olds have gone sub 4 in the mile. A 42 year old Kenneth Mungara ran a 2:08 marathon and his best from his 30s was 2:07.
Kipchoge lives like a monk. He could probably break compete for world majors in his 50s if he wants to.

Yes the newly crowned Olympic champ has no chance of winning the next Olympics. That makes total sense. In the next 3 years it is certain his body will suddenly become far too old to be competitive, nevermind the fact he won by 80 seconds.
Sure.
Would be rather surprised to see Kipchoge compete at another Olympics. He wouldn’t show unless he thought he could win - 3 years from now that’s uncertain - and there are paying gigs elsewhere.
Hi Troothsayer!
Don’t see Eliud winning at 39ish but if one guy can, it’s him.
Meb was 38 when he won Boston., so weird things can go down.

What a dumb post. OMG, he destroyed the rest of the field yesterday. His abilities are not going to suddenly disappear, and he seems to have the motivation. I expect another major win or three from him, and a definite attempt at another Olympics. He might not win, but the idea that he will be unable to make his team or contend is ridiculous. You are talking about the greatest marathoner of all time, and based on yesterday, still not far from his prime and still far ahead of his competitors.

Intelligence matters. Mo Farah was arguably the greatest championship distance track racer of all time. And yet I imagine morons like you (and you are far from alone) thought he could contend for a title this year.

Can you get banned already? Seems like every thread I open you're spewing some nonsense crap. What out of this do you get? I just don't get it. Stop feeding this troll, everybody.
