Sifan thought that by running Infront Faith would be exhausted! Alas! How wrong she was! Our Kenyan girl was just 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Congratulations Faith...
All your disapprovers are shamed...
Tactical beast, Faith. Sifan was disrespectful to the others for even entertaining the idea of that triple. Faith shut her up well and good.

she said she wanted to race, she didn't say she'd win them all, but she has a fighting chance at all distances and it's fun for her to try rather than wondering , "what if" And well she pushed the pace in the race to an olympian record for Kipyego
Why are people already rubbishing the idea of the triple? Doing the 1500/5000 double successfully is not unheard of (see El Guerrouj 2004), and so far that's all that Hassan has done. Then why not give the 10k a shot at the end if you've run 29:06 this year?

Yep, disrespected the others by beating them all in the 5000m and beating all but two in the 1500m and still pending results from the 10000m tomorrow…

If Hassan was underestimating Kipyegon it's her own fault as she was 1-3 against her in championship races coming in. Now she is 1-4.

How is that being disrepectful? I thought shooting for the 5k gold and two medals from the other two was her plan and she's been executing it nicely thus far?
the media got carried away with the idea that she was trying to get gold in all three (an impossible task given the quality of kipyegan and gidey). it makes sense tho. she was the clear favorite in the 5k, but even on her best day was unlikely to win the 1500 and the 10k is a coin flip. still medaled in the 1500 and will probably get silver tomorrow. still very impressive.

According to letsb!tch.com posters, doing your best and going all out is bad. World records are bad. Running fast is bad. Winning is bad. Losing, strangely, is also bad. Not running your best is bad.

+1
It is near impossible in our modern T&F era to earn gold in one Olympics: 100m/200m/400m or 200m/400m/800m or 400m/800m/1500m or 800m/1500m/5000m or 1500m/5000m/10000m or 5000m/10000m/Marathon, even if Olympic schedule were expanded to 12 days to allow no scheduling conflicts.
Do you think if she'd hung back with her usual tactics she would've won? Rather than trying to make it a fast race?

Fast race was her only hope. Faith has a better kick as seen by her 800 in the Doha DL.

Disrespectful? That was her 5th race in the last week. If she was fresh she would have done whatever she pleased with that field. And the idea of the triple was not that far off for someone who debuted her half marathon in 65 minutes has multiple world records and already done the hardest double you can do winning gold in both.

Agreed, and that triple would put her into distance GOAT conversation.
Anyone else see Sifan during the introductions? Did she look totally exhausted or is that her race face?

Bro, she was in the GOAT conversation even before this triple.

It's wonderful for the sport that she accepted the challenge. She made that race better than it would have been, just as she made the 5k better and will make the 10k better.

I think she is dead tired. She's only human after all. I think she knew this race was going to be a very big long shot at best. So feeling flat, tired and going into a near-certain defeat showed on her face. But once the gun went off, she did put in a spirited effort.

Entertaining the treble idea implies the competition is cr*p. After she won the 5000 so easily everyone was talking as if it's a done deal. That's the very definition of lacking respect her rivals.
