WTF is wrong with the USA mixed 4x4 relay?

First, the most obvious lane violation in track and field history in the prelim. Should have been DQ'd.

Then in the final they run all the worst runners???? They choked too. This should have been the easiest GOLD of the Olympics for team USA.

HORRIBLE COACHING, HORRIBLE RUNNING.

Kaylin Whitney was put on team? Where was Allyson Felix? Shamier Little has run MUCH faster this year. Why wasn't she on the team? Blame the coaches IMO.

Allison felix and others think they are too good for this. meanwhile, you have Femke Bol, who honestly could win a gold medal in the 400h under the right circumstances running for her country. Happy for the poles. and they are so ecstatic. Americans were arrogant. sad.

You'd think they'd be begging to run on it, it should be an easy gold. Was it the coach's decision or the athlete's decision?

would love to know for sure. Felix 100% should have been on this team with her schedule.

Same thing with our male 400 runners.

Bottom line, athletes are not respecting the event. The poles respected it, and were rewarded.

Syd, Mu, and Delilah for the womens 4x400 when their schedule is cleared.

I should say the athletes OR coaches are not respecting the event.

Honestly, I was not cheering for USA in the race. Their DQ should not have been overturned, they did not deserve a spot in the final. Some justice was served.

But still if they ran just one of the following they would have won: Felix, Hayes, Ross, Norman, Benjamin, Mu, McLaughlin, Muhammad. They benched their 8 fastest runners.

No longer can the c team win.

But again this stupid event is on the second day, I wouldn't want the top three American to sabotage their individual events.

I understand not having some of our best Olympians. But where is Shamier Little!

Poles are better relay runners, smoother on the handoff, etc. But the Dominicans wanted it more ....

Who the hell cares about a mixed 4x400 😂😂😂 I for one didn’t want to see any of our top runners on it when they all have individual events to worry about. Lastly, the stupid people asking for Shamier recall she didn’t run the individual 400m at trials and failed to make the 400m hurdle team, so she can’t be at the Olympics sadly.

That is not true. After the top 3 400 runners, USATF could have chosen whomever they wanted to for the additional relay pool. It is a valid argument that Little might have run a faster 400 relay leg than the #5 400 finish at USA OT. You could even argue that Little should have been added as an extra 400 leg instead of the third female HJer who didn't even make the final of her event. We'll see how the race affects Bol later on in the 400H.

In the end the USA don’t care about this mixed 4x400m the 4x400ms we care about come later where we’ll dominate both so 🤷🏾‍♂️.

We will see if USATF relay selection is absolutely terrible when we see who runs the real 4x4s. As of now Mu is not listed in the relay pool…

It is not worthy event for a top athlete. If the Olympics just has to have the event, it should be treated as an exhibition with no medals awarded. It's as prestigious as a title in mixed doubles at Wimbledon.

What do you mean it's not a worthy event? It issues an OLYMPIC GOLD MEDAL. It would be an automatic victory if USA put even their B team on it. All of these athletes have bonuses in their contracts for Olympic Gold medals. Their pay and their notoriety would significantly increase if they ran it.

Remember, Felix has very few individual medals. The only reason she's so decorated and famous is because of the relays.

No, it's like co-ed softball and it's a joke. It would be ludicrous to include the event in HS state meets and the NCAAs. Felix's medals are from real relays. Billie Jean King has the record for most major wins at 39, but 11 of them were in mixed doubles and I've never heard people talk about Serena challenging King's record.
