What’s going on with US athletes this Olympics? 0 medals for the rowers. The swimmers aren’t looking as dominant. Track it’s all gone to pot...
Maybe he just was taking it easy as it was heat 1?
Thoughts from someone who actually knows something about sprinting?
Is that good enough to qualify?
U.S. Olympic team overall is still there in the medal lead or just behind China, despite some disappointments.

He's a training group member with "Blessing", he could be shook up...
He didn't run great. His start is usually very good. Here, it was very mediocre. His acceleration was OK, but running next to Prescod (who has beautiful late form) it didn't appear as such. It was a very fast heat for a first round heat. He ran 10.05 and finished 4th--lol. He easily made it into the second round. He'll have a bad lane, but w/ his experience that shouldn't phase him. I do think having his training partner go down for HGH distracted him. He's definitely more built up than he was coming out of Baylor a few years ago, but nothing that couldn't be accomplished cleanly. If he's playing w/in the lines, he shouldn't let Blessing's problems impact him going forward.

Maybe their drugs have been worked out so they have to run on talent alone.
I do not think that having his training partner (this group is quite large by the way, are they really training together ?) "busted for hGH" has anything to do with this, simply because he is far from being alone in this training group, and several names that I can recognize did very well in their heats (one of them even improving his SB by 0.1)...
Unless of course he has something on his mind
Possible he might have peaked a little too early in the season, a lot of times guys who look like medal favorites in May are slower by the time the olympics roll around in late July. Who knows though, maybe he'll wake up for the semi!
Disagree with some of the posters. His top end looked barely average for the level he is trying to compete at. The top 4 women 100m runners were dominant throughout all the rounds.
Bromell might sneak into the final. He will lot he a factor. He looked awful.
His gait looked off
He didn’t look good at all. Hopefully a wake-up call because it gave me the same feeling as Ajees first rd, and clearly the concerns there were warranted. Granted had Simbine been swapped with him might the same thing had happened?
I thought the US had a chance to sweep but I now think it is just as likely that they get no medals.
Too often, very good athletes, 100m to 800m try to advance in rounds by racing at 15/16th effort or less. Sometimes it does not work out. Fifteen-hundred metres to 5000m, usually one is able to adjust final 50 metres in heats if necessary.
Banged up? Or just running clean now? Those are my two theories. He hasn’t really looked the same after the Olympic Trials. The semi will be telling.

Worry not, we have Galen Rupp. He runs on an underwater treadmill.
Perhaps writing all the drug cheat names on his shoes made his lopsided.
Hope he left some space on his kicks, as there will likely be many more before long. Lol

Jetlag. Circadian rhythms. Amazing to me no one discusses this.

Yes it could be this too, but it didn't stop the Yams earlier today...
Great interview with Steve Cram - says Jakob has no chance of WRs this year
