I might be wrong with this, but a quick search shows Rudy Chapa has the collegiate record in 7:37.70. Patrick Dever of Tulsa just ran 7:37.39 at Gateshead. He ran in a Tulsa singlet, although I think he is out of eligibility. Does this still count as the collegiate record? Either way - hell of a run by him, that was about a 25 second PR. Congrats!

That is a new all-time list record. They count any time ran post-collegiately up until the next XC season. Chapa's old #1 from outdoors is also faster than any of the indoor times.

Fine performance and I have nothing but good will toward this athlete but this is absolutely not a collegiate record if he has graduated (in May?) and its now July and the NCAA season is long over.

That’s what I wasn’t sure about. I guess either way he doesn’t have it because Rono has that 7:32 (I don’t know how I forgot about that one, I think it was during that legendary stretch where he shattered a bunch of WRs).

There is a good argument to be made there but:
Once you finish HS you are not really in college until you report to campus. Its a gray area and it makes little sense to have a separate category for "the 3 months between HS and college".
Once you finish college sanctioned activity, however, you are just an adult (for lack of a better term) and not in any gray intermediate area. Nobody would ever suggest a special records category for "recent college grads".
The USTFCCCA keeps two separate lists, a collegiate record list for marks set during the collegiate season, and an 'All Conditions best' list. This includes things like running a mark after the collegiate season is over, but is separate from the collegiate record list.

I believe Cragg has the indoor record yeah. His was also set in season (naturally since it was indoors) where as Rono & Dever ran theirs out of season, similar to Lawi’s 13:00
