What a race. What a win. What a time.
That was amazing.
Props to Hassan for going for it as well.

And I didn't want to say anything in the first post as I didn't want people to think I was not enjoying the race, but what were those moon boots she was wearing?
It was impossible not notice them when she went to the ground in celebration.
Give me a pair of those spikes.
barely out of breath (if at all) screaming, jumping up and down, looking like a tempo effort. Take of that what you will

Yeh, it says a lot about you.
Love me some Elle, but there's no way she can hang with that in Tokyo.
hassan didn't look comfortable that entire race. i think she'll go for the 5000/10000 in Tokyo but again props to her for going for it and leading it. kipyegon is on fire

+1
I think the 3:53 last time was actually a surprise. I believe she has been gearing up for the 5/10 double. A rested and fully sharp Kipyegon was too much for her here with that gear shift.

If you think this was a clean run, I have a religion to sell you. Just give me 50% of all your income and you'll be saved in heaven.

It seems that every magnificent performance in athletics is associated with irregularity or doping and this is sad. This is unique to track and field and possibly cycling as well, but more so in track and field. If you watch the Tour de France right now in cycling and see that the riders are riding for hours on the flats at average speeds of 50 km/h and going up steep mountains for hours on end at 25 km/h that boggles the mind but do you really think they’re all doped up? Virtually impossible.

I bet you would be celebrating it if it had been Laura Muir running that time.
Kipyegon is not the right skin color for most posters here.
so happy for kipyegon!! and a bit sad for hassan, wish it would've been a bit closer at the end--only .03 faster than last time and it seemed like she was going for the WR with that 61 second opening lap

So many people want to put their heads into the sand and pretend that there’s no doping problem in T&F. Instead of considering the obvious problem and issues they attack anyone who questions someone in their tribe/camp.
Top Utterance of Doping Apologists:
1) you’re just jealous
2) he/she/they are too ‘nice’ to dope. They’re always smiling,
3) they never failed a test. They are the most tested person in the planet
4) contaminated food supply
5) Doping doesn’t help the hard working and pure East Africans
6) It was just a whereabouts mistake
Didn't watch the race but knew Kipyegon was going to make a statement here. I thought she would go at a hot pace, pursuing Hassan then out kick her the last 50m or 20m. Or if the pace slackens earlier then the last 800m would be run in close to 1:55. She is very talented and has tactical brains! Too bad in 2019 she had just come out of maternity leave and also had a slight injury before world otherwise we would be talking of 2 time world champion.
What is conversion for a mile?

Back-to-back Olympic champ would be pretty good...If people want to accuse the Sang Kaptagat group of doping go for it, but it's a huge shame because the stable includes the favorite in the men's marathon, women's 1500, women's steeple and a top contender in the men's 10,000. There's probably an athlete or two I'm missing.
Hassan after the race admitted she ran her best race but didn't feel good with the travel and even within the race to some degree:
"I feel good today about the time and pretty happy actually as my body felt terrible the whole day with the traveling etc. I tried to punch my face and my legs to feel better. And the 1500m is very hard you know if you don't feel loose and do not wake. I did not feel well so I am glad with the time.
I have not done any mistake this evening and did everything well apart from not feeling good."

Kipyegon is also very strong mentally.
She's in the league of Tirunesh Dibaba, Meseret Defar, Vivian Cheruiyot and Helen Obiri. These ladies never give up.
Genzebe Dibaba, Laura Muir and even Hassan sometimes wilt under pressure.
That is the difference.......in my opinion.
I did chuckle a little bit as she was jumping around and celebrating while the rest of the field was on the ground gasping for air. I knew it would come up on this board.
I don’t know or care if she is clean or not, I’ll give her the benefit of the doubt until she tests positive. That was a killer run.
incredible run.
