Great race, great time in Monaco. But he didn't have that final gear at the end. H should do the 5000 in Tokyo instead.

He looked tired, that sickness looks to have taken some out of him. Would have loved to see him 100% today.
Boxed himself in with 250 to go. Katir passed him at that crucial point. Game over. Easy as that.

He ran .65 seconds off of his PR so he must have been at only 99.9% today.

or he is in better shape than his PR and could have run a new PR if healthy today. Also at that pace .65 off your PR is worth more than .1%
Norweigan papers say Jakob hasn’t trained for two weeks. Sounds peculiar though.
Why does it sound peculiar that he didnt train while being sick?
Two weeks is exaggerated I think, the news regarding his sickness broke this week? Nontheless, Jakob stated post race he was happy with his time considering how his week's been.. he had a sore throat, missed around a week of training maybe? He also showed great sportmanship saying he enjoyed the fact that so many runners were competing at such high level these days at the 1500 and that they all pushed eachother
Hard to believe he Netflix and chilled on his couch for 2 weeks and did zero training. But for him to miss Bislett was a very big deal, so something must have been up. He looked decent today though. If he's really coming off an ailment and has a month to tune up for Tokyo, he'll get a medal for sure.
No, he should do exactly what he and his father has planned. He don't need a kick, but rather be in 3.27-shape, as planned. BTW, he will never be able to win or get a medal in a 3.32-race. He is born "slow". So he can't train to get such a kick. But he might outrun the others if the pace is fast.
His 5k strength will give him the edge over three rounds. He did run a low 54 on last lap. He will medal if in the 1500. Not sure which.....
I’m guessing he does the 5000m in Tokyo
Only 3rd with a fast pace
Too many good kickers in a slow pace

Not only. He has been sick. He will go for the 1500. That's their i.e. The Ingebrigtsens distance. And there will be no slow pace.
Not an American. Don't care.

More like 99.8%
He is intimidated when Timothy is in the race. No chance he would have lingered that far back otherwise. That's why you can't put much stock in the outcome or the time. He understood the pecking order and that dictated how he ran.
I like Jakob but he's been no match for Cheruiyot so often he wants no part of a direct comparison down the stretch. He wasn't accidentally boxed in late. He made sure he got boxed in late. Otherwise he knows darn well that if he's running clear and drawing alongside Cheruiyot then he'll be embarrassed again. This way he can sit back there and make sure the commentators and the public don't say anything about another head to hear failure.
If Cheruiyot is not in Tokyo then Jakob will run arrogantly near the front
Must be wonderful to have all the answers, hm?? He made sure he got boxed in?! Completely bollocks.
The only reason for Jakobs running in Monaco is what he said himself: Because he was a bit unsure how his body would be after the sickness, he would run conservative by following the light and hold a consistent pace.
Running under 3.30 with such a runup to the competition, he was happy with the result.
If he was such a wimp as you claim, and didnt dare to meet Timothy head to head, he would stay out of the competition and blaming his need for recovery.
As we know Jakob will never become a great kicker and that is his only "Achilles heel ".
But on the other hand we must say it`s fantastic a guy with just around 50 sec 400m limited speed
can run 3:28 now and probably dip sub 3:26 WR in a couple of more years...........

There are better than him in kick and endurance
One should be realistic.
I’m a D2 female runner. Our coach explicitly told us not to visit LetsRun forums.
Great interview with Steve Cram - says Jakob has no chance of WRs this year
