The way he holds his arms out looks strange.
Anyone agree?

Yes. He looks odd, but there are no style points in track.
it resembles me to Erin Donahue's form
Ever heard of Emil Zatopek? He takes the cake but his gold medals speak for themselves.
Eric Liddell running form!

True.
Also, seeing Hocker run right next to Centrowitz -- an exceptionally smooth runner -- makes it more noticeable.
Indeed. If Hocker could transport back in time and run next to Zatopek he would be called graceful!
sure zatopek's arm carriage and face look terrible (when he's not mugging for the camera lol), but his legs look pretty smooth to me. hocker's feet just look super rotated when he lands, which probably doesn't matter, but it looks off. either way that kid can move.

+1 ironically both Hocker and Nuguse have rather unorthodox form which some people would call strange. Nuguse has a very bizarre way that he carries his arms almost like he’s rocking a baby permanently in his arms when he runs. Both of these guys get the job done so I don’t think there’s much more to say about this and I don’t think at this stage in their life they would be able to change to make their form more efficient. Al Sal might disagree with that. Remember, Alberto changed Ritz’s form and foot plant but the latter became injured and eventually left.

It's not just his arms, in a sprint his legs are everywhere, too. His speed is a triumph of power over mechanics.
Yes, looks like he's got a broomstick up his @$$ in the final kick. Similar to legendary sprinter Michael Johnson's form--not pretty but deceptively fast.
Between the weird form and the man bun, I have trouble rooting for him. Yes, I know it's kind of superficial and silly.
I keep waiting for Hocker's form to go to $hit the last 300 and it just never does. It's actually pretty cool to watch.
He looks like a junior high school runner in his first track meet who has had no coaching on form. I would think there could be at least a few minor tweaks that would only make him faster.
I feel like a specially in the last 100 m he puts all his brainpower into moving his legs fast and so he probably doesn't even think about that.

He has increased retrotorsion of his femurs, which would also change arm carriage slightly.
Plus he’s quite linear which might make him look more flaily.

Didn’t Centro look graceful as Hocker blew by him?

There will be no 2:16.9 800m split gift to Matt C. this Olympiad. If Matt C. wants any hope of earning an Olympic medal, Matt C. needs to pull from his inner Jurgen Straub and go for it with 700m to go. Matt C. cannot wait like he did yesterday and save his attack for last 500m.
Hmmm. How "strange" does he look standing above the #1 on the podium?

Nice one brother
