I was watching Ajee the whole time. To be able to run a totally different race than she normally does was brilliant. So impressed by that.
Kate Grace was way too impatient and way way too much extra distance.
Wilson was 7th with 100 to go.

She said after the Trials she'd talk about all the hiccups she's been having.

For real. Insane last 100, she hadn't broken 2 coming into this meet.
By LetsRun’s goofy “Heather MaClean Standard” Athing Mu should’ve been DQ’d for “running across” the field and causing a trip.
Fast K8's a hero of mine but I got major Uceny in the 2016 trials vibes. Trying to beat the big names versus running a tactically sound race. V deep field though. Meyer was a tactical genius Rojo, she deserves love too!
Hard to fault Kate Grace there. Seemed like she wanted to put some distance on the pack because she didn’t quite have the best kick in the mix.
You’re right - Athing Mu ran a phenomenal and tactically brilliant race.
Ajee is another also-ran. Best days are behind her. She has gone backwards and will never run 1:56 again.
Sounds like she had some injury issues coming into this race. Mu is just so insanely talented; it’s her time.
Shout-out to Raevyn for still running well and making the team. Hope Meyer gets in some more good races this summer, if she wants.

Geez I thought she was really poor tactically. Initially in an ok position, but made the cardinal mistake of allowing herself to be pushed back. She was good enough to make it through despite her tactics, not because of them.
Yeah Rojo I think Raevyn ran the race you’re crediting Ajee for.

She could do, what, recovery, then a hard 4-week block, then taper for Olympics. Hot conditions, not great for 800 I wouldn't have thought.
Definitely the favourite. Who is going to beat her? She was so dominant - but was almost tripped 200m in.

Exactly. Ajee barely pulled this one off. Not tactics, just desperation and ability+experience allowing her to deliver in the final 80m.

I would not say tactical errors kept Kate Grace off of Olympic team. Clearly the best three U.S. 800m runners are going to Olympics.
Amazing, she could challenge the world record over the coming years. A special talent. She’s ready to get the American record now
Anew is off the tainted meat.
I mean Ajee … off to bed!

i had hickups out of the blue for 2 days straight and never again. i was going insane.
as you can imagine, as in no sleep.
best i can figure it was stress and electrolytes imbalance.
then again, it was a one off.
so there you go
relax, and get your ca,mg,k,and na.
especially Mg for the heat.
Mg citrate, like a good dose for 7 days straight.
The women have been putting on a fantastic show. New world in the 400 M hurdles. Sisson crushing a field of 41 women in 85 degree temperatures. And now a 19 y/o Athing Mu takes the crown as the new Queen of the 800 M. Mu has erased any hope of taking the crown from Ajee Wilson. And next up is for Mu to smash the American record.
