Imagine at some dual meet if a kid running 5 minutes in the 1600 pulls that crap? Even his own coach would support a DQ.
Chelimo didn't actually help his chances of winning. He ran wide adding distance to his race.
Worrying about those behind you and trying to change lanes is a great way to slow yourself down. Hug the rail and go.

Chalimo did it purposely to improve his chances and hold them off. He was lucky Cooper didn’t have the kick to come up on the inside.
Do you know how hard it is to slow, go around, then accelerate past? They were running at 52 second 400 m pace, the last 80 m was slightly over 18 mph.
Fisher could have bumped Chalimo off and risk getting tangled up with both going down so he smartly didn’t do that. He probably never thought Chalimo would have pushed out to the edge of lane 4.
Fisher and Kincaid were very gracious and diplomatic during their interviews. Chalimo complained about being clipped etc.
I was there. The race was fast then slow, guys were running up on each other getting clipped and spiked. I watched the victory lap after the race. Three guys out of the four were cut up from being spiked - Chalimo wasn’t one of them. Chalimo was wagging his finger and mouth during the race and complained during his interview. Fisher and Kincaid never complained during their interviews. They are classy guys, Chalimo is not.
What was up with Chalimo crossing the finish line and putting a head lock around Fisher then brushing him off. What a clown.
Chalimo is a baby for complaining about others and should have been DQ’d for impeding forward movement down the stretch (rule 163.3).
