A good life lesson on positioning.
(Also anyone who doesn’t think Hocker and Centro are making the team are living in denial)

Sure, but the looks given to each other by Centrowitz and Hocker down the stretch were totally worth watching the race for.
What are Nick and Mason going to tweet about this one?

Lots of sexual tension there.

Knew Hobbs wasn’t gonna make the team when he was in last with 400 to go. He absolutely had the strength, just didn’t have the tactics. Probably would have made the first heat
Classic inexperience but so what - his first major event as a pro, no big deal.
You can't give a group of guys a 10 yard head start when it's 2.50 at the bell and at least 5 of them are going to run sub 53 (which is what happened) - you aren't going to run 50.5 dodging bodies in that final 200m.
As you said, he will learn a lot and come back better for it.

This is why I named the thread “educated” and not “devastated”
He's got a long career of racing at US championships and Olympic Trials ahead of him. For him and Nico Young, the experience from this championship will just make them more prepared for a time where they're at the point to seriously challenge for a spot on a team.

I actually think Nuguse turns the table on Hocker and gets the third spot behind Centro and Engels. But surely this isn't really that outlandish given how good Nuguse is and how well he ran at NCAA's as well. He just has less races under his belt this season, that's my logic.
That's why I agreed with you - what else you looking for?

Uh nothing?

I do not think Nuguse or Engels can out kick Hocker and Centro. If Nuguse makes the team I think he does so over Engels. At this moment I do not foresee a race in which Hocker doesn’t make the team, unless he falls or something.
Hobbs started at the back. He never thought he was going to qualify there. He was exhausted.

Humans have a natural tendency to stare at each other when they are either angry at each other or in love with each other. So which one is it?

I was thinking that this race could have been an issue of not having confidence. This pace should’ve been easy money for him.

C. All of the above
My sense was that he was tired - not much to do with positioning. He was in the back the entire time and looked like he was getting dropped off the pace a few times but was able to kick by some people in the last 150 to not get last.

Hocker left the track in a hurry looking very emotional, once they crossed the line.
He also wasn't wearing spring spikes
