Has anyone explained why he had not plan for a final in the Olympic trials? You’d think that when injured you need the plan more than ever
Unfortunately, the injury dictates the execution of the "Plan". The race strategy doesn't change, you go out and run as though there is no injury, especially with a stress reaction/fracture. If it breaks it breaks. You only hope that the injury doesn't flare up during the race and you get through it. It truly is a sh***y situation to be in. The worse part about a stress reaction is that it doesn't shut you down completely. Unlike a stress fracture, where there's a crack/break you can't power through it. You simply cannot run. It seems as though DB was on the cusp, and he clearly lost valuable training time leading up to the trials. Not to mention that he knew that the race was going to be in the 1:44 range and anything less than being 100% wasn't going to cut it and that in itself is mentally difficult.
Nice insight Sal...Well done!...but not Pete's fault, he and DB had no choice.
Donovan will be back and will run VERY FAST!
