I don't think anyone can top this - I won $25 for running 20:53 in a 5K road race a few weekends ago.

Last weekend I won $25 for running a 20:58! Gotchya!
$5. It was a 5 mile runathon in jr high, to raise money for my school's new gym. Was the longest distance I'd ever run up to that point. I won.....but only b/c the guy ahead of me kept going straight and missed a turn back to school.
Pathetic, yes. But I enjoyed the cash payout.

Roughly US$900 for a 2:39 marathon, in Pattaya Thailand, 2002.
Short Course?
2:39 for a Marathon in Pattaya is not bad. I spent time in Pattaya (Thailand) on two occasions, and the temp. is usually about 85-90 with 80% humidity.
Let's see - Mayeroff running 2:39 in those conditions, would be like running 10 minutes faster or less in cooler conditions.
Mayeroff running 2:39 (6 minutes mile speed) was basically a long training run at a good pace - nothing more, nothing less. The question is: Did Jason win the race? and if not, where did he place? Not too many fast boys in Thailand running marathons, although many are built (short and light) like they could run marathons fast...many Thais. have similar builds to Khalid Khannouchi - with heights and weights in the 5feet 6inches/115 pounds range, sometimes less.
I once won a little rinky dink 5k in southern ohio with a 16:45 and won a trip to orlando and daytona, everything paid for.

A 2:39 marathon is not pathetic unless your name is Gebrselassie or Tergat or Rutto and you were running that marathon full-out.
Cool off with the elitism, bud.
$500 for a 25:21, Road 8K
I won $400 for a 15K that was completely inaccurate and probably around 11 1/2 miles. I ran medium pace because I was completely unchalleged and still won by 10 minutes.
Ha! This is the first time I've looked at these boards and had to reply: I won $100 for a 32:18 8km. I realize the time could have been worse, but a hundred is a lot of cash for that kind of time!!

Well, the time couldn't have been MUCH worse.

Checkmate.
Won $50 for an 18:01 5k

We might be tied: $550 for an 18:04 and a few weeks later $1000 for a 3:01 marathon.

Good game.
I won 200$ for a hilly 36:11 10k. I did not even win, but I got the same payout because they gave 200$ to each winner of the age groups 20-29,30-39,40-49.

What's your 8k time, yelly?
$1500 for 2;39 at last year's T.O. marathon. $1000 for masters, $500 for 2nd Canuck. Joseph Kamau, who ran about 20 minutes faster than me, made something like $700. Didn't seem fair. I kept my money, though. Incidentally, the winner, a Mexican runner, made $25,000 for barely breaking 2:17. He hated the course and the weather, and indicated that he wouldn't come back, although where can you run 2:17 and make $25,000?
16:55 5K. Won $200, a free pair of New Balance shoes, and a $100 gift certificate to STANLEY & SEAFORTS steakhouse that I never used.
