Little does he know that deadlifts are not applicable to running. Everything else he did in that video does, though.
i saw bumper plates that looked like they could be two 25s and a 10 on each side, or maybe two 35s and a 10 on each side.
so anywhere from 185 to 205. looked to be repping it quite easily. nothing really impressive, even for a tiny distance runner. BUT it is difficult to get that kind of stuff in when you are running 120 miles per week! I would say It is a very appropriate amount of weight for his situation.
I would also say something that works your entire posterior chain and core is highly appropriate for runners.
i should say anywhere from 165 to 205.
Hate when people say this.. yes deadlifts are applicable. Pure muscle strength improves performance. There are several aspects to weight training and running and you're probably obsessing about mobility, which is very important, but so is pure strength of the muscle group in isolation. Give it a shot and you'll see what I mean.

-Deadlifting increases bone density and decreases the probability of stress fractures
- Strengthens core and posterior chain
-Helps develop explosive speed and acceleration.

Deadlifts and squats are essential for building sprinting power - that's why literally every sprinter does them and/or similar exercises (lunges, leg press, etc). How do you think he got so lethal at the end of races?
Imagine what he could do on 30 mpw and CrossFit!

Deadlifts are very much applicable to running, runners just like to say they aren’t cause many cant deadlift a lot/ have awful form. Deadlifts directly correlate with the amount of force you can put into the ground when running, and ground force + push off speed is basically the determining factor as to how fast you can run.
Muscular strength training is important for running economy, sprint speed, injury prevention, neuromuscular connection, keeping body fat down and so much more.
That deadlift snap scares me. Locking the knees out like that. Just asking for it.

Not according to Percy Cerutty...he loved deadlifts, and aren't they supposed to be the finest core conditioning lifts?
the FM girls deadlift 2x their bodyweight and so should you
