400 is not a sprint, it’s the shortest middle distance. Heck some 100m athletes struggle to maintain sprint form over even 100m! The most disciplined do it in the 200, and some can take it to 300.
You could say that the 400 can be run 3/4 as a sort of sprint—bit mostly it is not.
She runs, she does not sprint.
So you were too lazy to train for the 400? Right.
You run, you don't sprint.
What this is supposed to mean, I have no idea.
The differences between 400 and 800 are many: start and accel can actually mean something in the 4, block technique and first few steps can get you maybe 0.4 with no extra energy; running in lanes the whole way isn’t the same as group running, and of course the speed: bottom line is that 400 athletes have it, 800 don’t.
Look at WVN, Ackbar, Felix, SMU, etc—there is no way their 800 counterparts are staying with them in a 200 or 100m race. Not even close.
IMO to get an idea of Mu’s actual speed would take an open 200 or 100. It’s about the power that an athlete can generate. This would be evidence one way or another about her 400 prospects. I will say this, that if she showed any significant speed over 200m, then she would have potential be the best clean 400m athlete in history.
Right now her apparent lack of power/speed points to 800 IMO, because her running fluidity seems so efficient. Heck she might be optimized for 800 if her aerobic capacity isn’t huge.
400/800, but better at 800.
