In my day we wore Jasaris, Kennedys, and ventulus. 40yo has been.
I bought a pair of dragonflies just to see what the hype is about.
Executive summary:
1. They are so COMFY. Much more pleasant than the old style. Feet and soleus don’t feel sore after a session.
2. I don’t find them PROPULSIVE. I think keeping the weight low while absorbing the slap of the track removes a subconscious need of the racer to expend energy “softening the blow” and instead put that energy into pushing hard.
3. Incredibly FRAGILE. After my very first session, on a nice track, the exposed foam on the back third was already torn up.
Conclusion: not a cheaterfly-like game changer like the road shoes. But does turn the “slapping concrete” sensation of the old shoes into the sensation of running on a springy golf course fairway. Pretty cool.
