Katir won the Gateshead DL 5000 in 13:08 today in absolutely terrible conditions, destroying 12:51 guy Kimeli in the final 100. World Athletics has his PR at 13:50. I hope they have drug testing at this meet.

Shocking improvement
Ran 3:33 1500m two weeks ago.
This guy will definitely give Jakob stress in 5000m. Beautiful win over Kimeli.
this is a disappointing thread to see.
I understand that 1980-2000s Spanish athletics had a cloud of doping, but the current crop should be evaluated in their own right. This guy is young and has been progressing for a while

It’s a Diamond League there is testing. This is a breakthrough race but he had a great indoor season running 7:35, some solid 1500s, and then the 1500 of 3:33 for the win recently. 22 years old. I’d say this race was a 12:55 type effort, very impressive. Kimeli did a lot more work so that’s worth noting as far as who he beat. I was mighty impressed by his move from 400m out, he is one to watch at 5,000 for sure. I’m not suspecting drugs until there’s reason to.

You should add a strong 3k indoor.

True, just found the info, thanks for the tip. That's a true Spaniard in my book then. Will surely make Jakobs life harder in 5000m.
Spend the passed months in his own training in Siërra Nevada, completly remote.
Spanish + Moroccan = doper. Let's hope he doesn't rob a clean athlete of a medal in Tokyo.

Hey stupid handle doping apologist. His training camp in Sierra Nevada is 30km from Granada. That's less than 20 miles.
You are an idiot.

You don't think they will face each other in 5000m eventually?
In 1500m Jakob is more than safe.
How are you so sure? That 5,000 today was really impressive. If he can run 3:30-1 then fine, but he is in sub-13 shape right now.
yes it is suspicious. look at his iaaf profile progression:

Jakob ran 3:28 last year. There is an entire level between that and 3:31.
Now 5000m is a different topic. While I believe Jakob would still win, Katir could give him a run for his money.

Glad that you also feel the Russians should be allowed to compete instead of being Cancelled by left/BLM crowd.
