I know I'm nitpicking, but I feel that the term "superspikes" is an oversimplification that takes away from the shoe technology debate.
My main reason is I don't think it's justified. Yes, some very fast times have been set the past year in the ZoomX Dragonfly and Air Zoom Victory. But even more runners have worn the same spikes to times either comparable to or slower than their previous bests. The faster times are much more likely due to the unprecedented training opportunities made possible by the pandemic. Another factor to consider is the fact that training and coaching have advanced significantly over the past few years and we're seeing both top times and depth improve as a result.
To be clear, I'm only applying this to the spikes. Shoes like the Vaporfly and Alphafly are very justifiably called "supershoes". They've impacted road times significantly, and the improvements can indeed by attributed to the shoes. But the same cannot be said of the spikes. So to Rojo and all the people throwing shade, please ditch the superspikes label. It's ridiculous.
Also, don't get me wrong, I LOVE these spikes. I have a pair of the Air Zoom Victory and multiple pairs of Dragonfly's. Racing and working out in them is absolutely incredible,
