I'm very excited about a few events for the Olympics. Mainly the ones where there are going to be a ton of total studs. I would put the men's 400 in that category.
Kirani James - past Olympic champ
Wayde van Niekerk - World record holder, defenidng champ
Fred Kerley - doing stuff that is crazy right now in the 100.
Anthony Zambrano - South american record holder
Steven Gardiner - reigning world champ.
Gardiner never has gotten that much publicity in my eyes. But heading into his 400 season opener on Tuesday, he hadn't lsot a 400 since 2018 when he was DNF in Zurich on August 30. That's 992 days. In terms of 400s that he's finished, he hasn't lost since finishing 2nd at the 2017 worlds on August 8th.
Well he lost on Tuesday as he pulled up in dramatic fashion in the final 50 at the USATF meet in Texas. I only learned today he ws in the race and found a clip. Here it is.

Has anyone heard of an update on the injury?
If not, I guess we'll find out soon as he's an adidas athlete and was scheduled to run the 100m this weekend in Boston.
