For me this is an interesting theoretic construct and maybe anyone is also interested and can share his opinion.
What do you think of a training with three shorter runs a day than one really short run in the morning and one main run in the evening? Let's assume a runner have a good base and have time to do three runs. Do you think he could benefit if he do three a bit faster, shorter runs or two shorter runs and one workout on workout days? I think this does not make sense for any distance longer than 5k, but what do you think of this for 5k or shorter distances? For example this runner runs 3 times 7 km (one of them really easy) instead of a 5 km easy in the morning and 16 km in the evening (of course, slower than the 7 km runs). Or do you think the runner could handle more mileage with three runs and would benefit from that? Would he/she benefit from the faster 7 km runs instead of the slower 16 km run?
I know this is not a common style of training and also I not intend to train like this, but I find this interessting.
Any thoughts?
