Physical altercation in SEC 5000m results in 2 DQs

Kiprop should have been DQd but not Meade. Unless Meade did something off camera to physically push Kiprop it’s unreal that this caused him to get DQd.

We’re soft for DQing either tbh but Kiprop should be tossed since it was what would be considered a flagrant action

Both of them ended up getting DQ'd. What do you think? I think Meade might have initiated the altercation but Kiprop's response was clearly far more egregious.

Mead made an idiot move. He deserved the TLC he got in return.

Oh yeah, Meade didn't block him at all, he didn't move lanes to impede Kiprop. Not at all!

Forgot to mention, the announcers reviewed the video and also caught a moment at a later point where Meade puts a hand on Kiprop's back (maybe pushing him a bit?) See the 9:10 mark of the video.

Later in the race he was shoving and bumping Kiprop in retaliation

This is what happens when too many people are boxed into too small of a space during a race. At least 5 runners made contact and jostled from the turn until Meade cut out

Watch an indoor 800m if you want to see egregious blocking and contact

PS - I hope Kiprop gets tripped and spiked next race for what he did. I just love tiny 100 pound "badass" runners who try to act tough. There wasn't a guy on the track who couldn't pound him into the ground like a nail. He looks the neighborhood chiwuawa that always barks like crazy from behind his fence at every large dog that calmly passes by.

7 minute mark is the original contact by Meade and then shoulder by Kiprop.

i am honestly surprised this doesn't happen more often in running. I know when i am running hard and getting tired, I am irritated by every little impediment.

This is why I hate watching T&F on tv and why ratings are so low, it's boring. You see 90% of the 5k, but only a jump or two, or a throw or two. Until they change that format, the ratings will continue to be low.

That's hilarious. Fantastic move by Kiprop. I'm not gonna watch the whole thing over a million times to develop an opinion on whose fault it was, but it's really funny watching Kiprop slam all of the lateral force he can muster as hard as he can into the other guy, and he only moves like a foot.

Quality all around.

Meade got in front of someone without tripping them, maybe somewhat questionable judgment at the point in a 5000m race, but Kiprop was entirely unaffected and appeared to be intentionally bumping him out of the way entirely because Meade was accelerating in his own lane to keep his position while Kiprop came from the outside. Totally unprovoked. I don't know why they disqualified Meade.

What was messed up is that Arkansas was working as a team to box the Alabama runner in. As I watched the meet I literally said, to myself, Arkansas is cheating. I do t blame the Alabama runner. Later on in the race, he was pushed in the back.

Yeah, arkansas guys were being dicks and Kiprop have him a little love tap to tell him to f*** off, I wish it would be a "let them play" type of situation. Arkansas was mad that Kiprop was running all over them that weekend
