According to tweet yesterday from USATF, brazier is a scratch along with Ronnie Baker and Dawn Harper Nelson.
Surprised there hasn’t been a thread yet about Donavan dipping competition or something.

I'm trying to think about this. If you're Brazier and you enter and then pull out now either that means
1) You are trying to play mind games with your competition
2) You wanted to race but didn't want to race the exact guys who are your main competition at the Trials.
3) You've got a slight injury.
Anything else?
#3 isn't great. #2 might be smart from some sort of game theory perspective but doesn't show a ton of confidence imo. #1 isn't necesary if you're Brazier.
So I think it's not a great sign but I still fully expect him to win the Trials, but Hoppel is my pick to beat him if anyone does.

5. major injury

Being sick I equate to a minor injury in my mind.
I didn't even let my mind go to a major injury. That would really suck for track and field fans.

Very interesting how we apply double standards! If Brazier was one of the East Africans, the number possible reason would be DOPING, that the meet is doing doping tests and that since Brazier is guilty, he decided to scratch instead of risking getting caught. I am not saying any of them is avoiding drug test, I just made the observation.

Pete Julian told me Brazier's ankle flared up. Doesn't appear to be too serious -- Brazier still wanted to race, and Julian said it is "doing better" right now. But Julian's top priority is getting Brazier to the the Trials/Olympics healthy, so they didn't want to take any risks.
