Some people say some sprinters or athletes in other sports would be faster if the lost weight. Many also say some are to skinny and should gain some muscle. But is there really an optimal weight, I've seen sprinters from
215 to 142.

It's more about a weight to strength/power ratio instead of an ideal weight so it can depend on your height and theirs no real set weight target you should aim for
All about power to weight ratio.
A 210 lb fat guy is gonna have a hard time “sprinting” 100m meters period.
A 210 lb muscle man may have national class sprinting speed
A 150 lb fast twitch guy may be able to run sub 11
A 150 lb slow twitch guy may be very pleased with a sub 15
It’s not the same for everyone. There’s a guy in my state who looks like an 8k/10k non-factor during track type, but he’s a 47 high guy and the 800m is the longest distance he can race decent times at.
We are about the same height and I easily have 25-30 lbs on him, but he’d smoke me in the 400m, our 800m times are close, and I have significantly better PBs in anything higher than 800
