I recently ran a 54.6 split in the 400 and ran 2:03 in a relay before it. What do I need to get my 400 time to to break 2:00?

Off of memory, I am pretty sure 52-53 seconds would allow it to be within reach. 50-51 would be more accurate, though.
for open, 54.6 is good enough.
from relay, 54.6 could be good enough, but a second faster than that is more realistic.
A 54.6 relay split might be more like 55.3 open, which is good for about 2:00.6
You're getting there brother, just keep racing and you'll be under 2:00 soon enough, you have the wheels for it.
The question is about the minimum. 51 second guys can run 1:50 in the 800 and 4 minutes in the mile. The minimum is about 57 but most kids that I have coached who run 2 minutes, run 55 in the 400.
i barely broke 2 as a youngster and my fastest 400 ever was a 55.X relay split. so there's an anecdotal data point for you. you should be able to break 2 if you keep at it.
Breaking 2:00 you usually want to split 58-61.
You could manage anywhere from a 54-56 depending on what kind of runner you are.
