Our coach had us run 20x200 meter repeats yesterday with 200 meter jog recovery. It was in the high 90s for the whole workout and also windy. Splits were just under 40 for the first 10, 38 ish for the next 5 and then 5 34's in a row.
I am in probably 5:20 shape right now, but I don't see what was the purpose of running these intervals. I am not a coach (obviously), so this may be a dumb question but what is the purpose of running this workout for a 1600 meters runner?
My best guess is that it is supposed to make race pace feel easier (then again we had a ton of guys going bonkers on the first half and then dying off).
