Is Shannon Rowbury jumping on the anti-Alberto Salazar bandwagon w/o naming him? What does this quote mean?

It should not matter what she is speaking about because the fact that she is speaking for her daughter is enough in itself.

It's good for a mother to want better for her daughter in whatever shape it comes.

It's crass to even introduce AS, coaching, or anything else because this is a speech of hope for her own girl.

Shannon is a local hero in SF., especially on the west side and among the running community. You bump into her out training at SF State or Kezar or Lake Merced or in GG park. She’s unfailingly friendly and gracious and so is her lovely husband. Shannon is an elite athlete but happy to turn up at a goofy local Christmas relays fun run and take photos with anybody who asks. That’s how she rolls. Shannon’s been a tireless advocate for girls and women in sports, especially T&F, only more so now since her daughter’s birth. Her advocacy is much bigger than simply ragging on AlSal. I’m rooting for her to make her 4th Olympic team . It’s nice when nice people succeed.

She mean give up other parts of your life. No vacations with friends, Vegas trips, nights out, etc. You have to sacrifice as a professional athlete.

If she makes the team this year, she is owed her own lipstick brand and royalties for life...Rowbury is outstanding.

I'm not a fan of Rowbury. But I do think she took some unfair flack during the Mary Cain situation. Mary Cain suffered abuse at the hands of Salazar and Treasure--sorry to those who will clutch their pearls by me saying this, but she did.

She didn't suffer abuse from her teammates. Unpleasantness or lack of support is not abuse. Shannon I think was unfairly roped in with some really awful people.

This sounds worse than no nights out:

"I’m imagining what if that had been my daughter Sienna and unequivocally saying I would never let her be treated that way."

Could be anything from public weighing to emotional abuse to getting "forced" into meds/drugs.

Shannon would never allow anyone to force her into taking drugs/meds.

During a Zoom session awhile back, under the context of protecting her daughter, Shannon commented about how she allowed prior coaches to make negative comments that were counter productive to an athlete's mental/physical health.

My guess is this is what she was referencing in the recent article.

I like John Cook, so I was pleased to see Rowbury go to Salazar and forever be associated with his slimy ways in her performance.

Why does she every address the fact that she was there when Al Sal was verbally attacking Cain and you had a teen age girl hurting and she (Rowbury) never stepped in. Why didn't she turn to help Cain or protect her from Alberto?

Did she? I don't recall an uproar over Shannon.... I'm sure a few intentionally-trolling comments on LetsRun but I don't think people, in general, lumped the two together.

She is a doping cheater. She is not a good person. I don't hate her, but I do think that she should be in prison for cheating.

Well Rowbury was very successful so clearly those coaches did something RIGHT.

Her running pays the bills for her family. If the coaches let her be fat and slow, she would lose her contract and her daughter would go hungry.

I am tired of all these athletes WHINING. If you chose to be a pro athlete, there are sacrifices. Just like if you chose to be a model, you can't get so fat that you can't fit into the close you are modeling. If you can't take it, chose a different profession.
