My HS freshman daughter pukes after every race. In fact, in one race a couple weeks ago she puked with about 400 meters left but never stopped and still finished strong. Is this something to be concerned about?
It's the middle of the season and she's in good shape and running well. She PR'd Saturday and looked very good coming home. We've adjusted her pre-race diet several times, but nothing seems to work. On Saturday she had a granola bar and about 1/2 a banana approx 2 hours before the race.
On the upside, she seems to take the puking as a matter of course. She's recovers well after a race and seems very happy. It's not like she needs medical attention or anything. She simply crosses the finish line, moves to the side, blows chunks, and then carries on. I just don't understand why she has such a sensitive stomach. She has a swimming background and I should think she should be able to tolerate the lactic build up without vomiting.
