When I went on my mission (Taiwan, Taipei 1981-1982), we did the schedule above except we were out of the apartment at 9:00 and didn't have any exercise time. We did ride bikes a few miles each day and often walked up and down a lot of 4-story apartment buildings knocking on doors. We might play basketball on prep day (Mon) or go for a hike. I did get up an hour early for a lot of my mission (5:30) while the other missionaries were sleeping and I did pushups, situps, jumps and stuff like that. We (I) did not go running. We had one interesting thing that was going on while I was there and that was we had a mission basketball team that would get together on the prep day to practice and then they would have a game night one night a week where they played college teams. Our mission team often won. I lived with one of the guys who played. I think all of the mission team had played a year of college basketball before their mission. It was a great PR type of thing being televised nationally or at least regionally and when I landed in Taipei at the airport people at the airport where asking me about our basketball team!

This means that Diljeet Taylor has recruited four of the just-announced Gatorade XC Runners of the Year:
Jenna Hutchins - Tennessee
Carmen Alder - North Carolina
Analee Weaver - Minnesota
Riley Chamberlain - California
That's pretty good. Lexy Halladay was also a three-time runner of the year in Idaho, and she's just a freshman. Taylor actually didn't get 2020 Utah winner Carlee Hansen, who is going to North Carolina (In Taylor's podcast recently, she mentioned that she had lost a big in-state recruit to UNC), though she did recruit Eliza Arrington, who was the Utah winner in 2019. Given how good Taylor is at developing athletes, BYU is probably going to be really, really good in the next few years, and they're already really good right now.

Taylor is a special coach. I wish her nothing but continued success.
