I can’t get over how good that game was. Both sides played tremendous and then you had a crazy shot to end it right after drama the other way.
Got to be the best college basketball game this century.
Wasn’t the title game but someone name a better one.
Gonzaga - UCLA the best college basketball game this century? Name a better one

Villanova - UNC in the title game a few years back. UNC hit a ridiculous 3 to tie the score; 'Nova rushed up the floor and stuck a 30-footer at the buzzer FTW.

Maybe NC state v. Phi Slamma Jama? UH versus UCLA with alcindor and hayes?
-
This century, UNC vs Villanova was awesome.

As compared to yesterday's 35-footer at the buzzer than banked in off the backboard? How is a shorter shot that went directly into basket better than a longer shot that missed the basket and was saved only because the backboard was in the way? -
Wisconsin vs Kentucky in the final four, both times.

Because it was the title game, and UNC had just tied it with a miracle shot of their own. -

Oh my, you are first one on this thread to add the restriction to "title game". And miracle shot is not one that goes straight into the basket. A miracle shot is a miss that magically ends up in the basket. A 35 foot unintended bank shot is one. So is a shot that bounces off the rim and then off the backboard and then into the basket.
Now, since you cannot read, the question is "best college basketball game THIS century". And based on how close the game was the entire way, and going into overtime, and set to go into second overtime, this games tops any other. Now, post a list of your "better" miracle games -- THIS century (repeated just for you). -

Not that impressive. Yours "game of the century" had six overtimes, was a tournament game (not even a semi-final), and had nearly as many shots taken in overtime as during the actual game. The final score was 127-117. No buzzer beating miracle shot to win the game. The losing team folded. They stopped playing defense. -
January 19, 1974: On this day, one of the greatest winning streaks in sports history came to an end. The UCLA men's basketball team's NCAA record 88-game streak would fall in South Bend, Indiana, to the Notre Dame Fighting Irish, 71-70.
UCLA came into the game ranked No. 1 in the country, while Notre Dame was undefeated and ranked No. 2. The Bruins were led by All-American center Bill Walton and legendary coach John Wooden. UCLA had not lost in almost 3 years on the hardwood, but the last loss had been on January 23, 1971, to these Irish in South Bend.
Walton, who had hurt his back the previous week, played valiantly, scoring 24 points and grabbing 9 rebounds in 40 minutes. But he missed a 12-foot shot with just seconds left. UCLA blew an 11-point lead with three and a half minutes remaining after Notre Dame went on a 12-0 run. -

You are correct - that game was better. -
Last night’s game was absolutely incredible. The kind of game you want to see play out between two great teams in the Final Four, capped with an unbelievable buzzer-beater.
But the aforementioned 2016 title game between UNC - Villanova was better. Go back and watch the last 1:34. Nova was the underdog but holding a six point lead at that point.
UNC kept making baskets to close the gap, capped with a miracle, off-balance, double-pump 3 pointer by a freshman with 4.7 seconds left.
Nova ran the floor, setup a good look, and with the NCAA title on the line, Jenkins stroked the winning three as time expires.
Last night’s game was great. And had it been the title game, you have a much better case. But in my mind, a highly competitive Finals game with two huge clutch shots in the final 5 seconds (including a buzzer beating three) trumps a highly competitive Final Four game with a miracle shot as time expires. -
Talent -wise this was up there...
But the 2015 Georgia St./Baylor match up had Ron Hunter's team outplaying even themselves against a great Baylor team.
No coach has fallen off a stool for his players since. Lol -

The final 3 seconds, not final 5 seconds. At 5 seconds UCLA missed a shot, the shooter grab their missed shot and put it back in tie the game with 3 seconds left. Gonzaga's game winner was also made by a Freshman, and off-balance, and it was a missed shot that banked in. The UNC shot went straight into the basket.
So, keep on arguing, but watch the final few minutes of each game and then realize both were great endings, but yesterday's game was better than that UNC game. Sorry, but that is how it is.
