Newbury Park junior ran 4:04.86 in the Mile Saturday and last month ran 8:47 in the 3200m.
Hobbs Kessler runs 8:39 in the two mile
What an amazing HS weekend

His last 800 was in 1:59 as well, I can definitely see a sub 4 from him this year in optimal conditions.

I think you underestimate the significance of the jump from 4:04.86 to sub-4. That is almost 5 seconds. Not saying it can't/won't happen, but a 4:04.86 with a 1:59 last 800 does not indicate an imminent sub-4 mile. He'd need to close in the same 1:59, except in stead of going through 800 2:05, he'd need to go through the half mile in 2:00.
Impressive times, particularly for a junior, but it's hard to "definitely see a sub 4." Not impossible, but I'd say improbable.
4:04 is certifiably slow these days...
Lol. Have you been living under a rock? Two words. SUPER SHOES
I am so proud to be the same generation as these runners. We are ALPHAS and running is a burning desire inside our hearts.
Give me a break about "magical shoes". The shoes are made better for recovery during workouts ..thats it! Americsn high school kids are finally training harder..racing less. Talent plus hard work! If it was the shoes every high school kid running the 2 mile would break 9 minutes..run a 4 minute mile.
No it is not!

He is talking about Dragonfly and Victory - do you recover in spikes?
“If it was the shoes.. every ha kid would break 9.” This logic is insanely dumb. It does not mean every kid would become a world beater. I love this sport but it is a disservice to all T&F fans not to parse this out. No doubt every aspect of training has gotten better but we have to acknowledge and attempt to quantify each variable.
Great run, but it was paced, correct? So, it really doesn’t count officially for any type of all time high school lists, etc. if following the NFHS rules, it should have been a DQ.
The shoes are making the difference between, say, 3:59 and 4:02.

That means Alan Webb's 3:53 shouldn't count. This was a High School athlete in an open race. Most all HS records are done that way. It was not a HS race and that's why this meet was so much better then most all HS races.
It’s a lot of factors...
Less racing so better training
Traveling to time trials in ideal conditions with pacing
The shoes are faster
Less school stress with the virtual stuff. So a greater focus on running
More individualized and even private coaching
