Mods. Can we not say Mantz ran with some big balls?
He didn't back down and deserved to win that race. Great run dude.

Yes you can say that. I'm going to make this the official Conner MF Mantz thread as the other threads went off topic quick.
Balls to the wall
byu = age cheats
It’s not cheating because literally EVERY school has the opportunity to do what BYU does.

Guarantee anyone that "cares" about the age of BYU students are the SAME PEOPLE that make fun of a 46 year old that is trying to win their age group at the local marathon. Hypocrites. College races are just watered down, adult fields.
after that 1st K I called you would struggle to finish top 30. he looked rough at the mile. what a comeback, what a run, so tough. i was glad to be wrong, that was impressive.

Ummm... ever hear of the Peace Corps?
That kid is tough as nails. After that 2:31 first K I thought he was toast as he started to fade. Especially when that other random dude I've never heard of passed him and went with Kiptoo.
But the last K he completely crushed everyone's soul. Just gradually turned the pressure up until he was 20 seconds ahead. Super impressive race.

Agree -- thought he started too fast & would fade. Impressive running at the end to get the W. Dave Smith said he thought 30-flat would win or come close. 29-low on that course seems really good.
If the brojos are going to keep talking about where people are from (for non-white athletes) and what kind of shoes people have on, I think it's fair to point out that he's 24. If this is gonna be a big thing because he's, you know, American born (cringe). You know who's also 24? Justin Knight and Joe Klecker. Grant Fisher is 23.
Yes, I was impressed with his run. I enjoyed watching it. I liked the look of that course as well.

Sure okay. Is drug-dealing ethical because everyone has the "opportunity" to become a drug dealer??
Every school could do what BYU does... but they don't. Note the difference in ethics and values. BYU found a "loophole" and exploited it. Scummy, shady stuff.
The silver lining, I guess, is that with a team of 28 year olds all these dudes are at their peak in college. Never seen a BYU grandpa do squat on the world scene.
Very impressive race, but people overrate the toughness of those that have bad form / strong facial expressions. Mantz isn't tougher than everyone else - he just grinds he face like he's working hard all the time. He was doing it in the first mile and clearly wasn't working THAT hard at that point.
Yes, he is also really good - he is a 3 time Footlocker finalist who is two years older than the other seniors in the race. Not saying he isn't fast or talented, but the toughness part is overstated.
Nico Young runs the same way - always looks like trash so is easy to label as being "tough" even though he's incredibly talented.

You know who is also 24? A majority of the people who graduated from college 2 years ago. You know who is also 24? The rest of byu team who will still be eligible another 5 years.

If you don't believe this ask yourself why there weren't any threads about how "tough" Wesley Kiptoo is despite going out super hard and crushing everyone in the 5K on Friday night, then coming out and taking it out hard again today to get third.
To all the cucks (E. silva?) screeching about BYU ages: cry harder LMAOOOO

I think that was his point.
The "BYU Thing" has always bothered me. Say there's a world where there is no BYU, but there's a CU, or an NAU, or an Oregon, where their team is made up of 24-year-olds or 25-year-olds.
That would be okay?
But there was a thread on Kiptoo, even had "world record alert on it"
Everyone in that thread was saying he was awesome and tough for going at it during XC
