Hey all, So about a week ago the 2 800m guys on our team (1 junior 1 sophomore) did this workout and they surprised me. There was 10 minutes rest between each 450 and we had a goal of hitting 57 for the first reps 400m split. For the last 50 the goal was to try to maintain pace and finish strong. Times were:
57:XX 400 split for both guys and 1:06 for whole
10 rest
54 high and 55 low-mid 400 split and 1:03-1:04 respectively for whole 450.
Worth noting that on second rep there was a member of the girls team on the track that didn’t hear them yelling at her to move and they both ended up stumbling around her for a sec. First rep was in trainers and looked fairly controlled. Some wind. Second rep in spikes. Both athletes surged hard right at 200m and then clung on. Neither of them do regular sprinting work but they’ll do 200m repeats fairly regularly. I think they could have potential in the 4x4 so what times do you all believe they’re capable of, I know at least sub 54 for both but past that I’m unsure.
