Former college runner here. Have mostly lifted weights the last six years and currently weigh 174lbs at 5'11. I am pretty lean but could get a leaner. I ran my best in college at about 155lbs... Was always kind of "big" for a runner.
Anyway, I decided to try to get back into decent running shape this year to run a decent marathon in the fall. I'm up to running 6 mile per day with a long run of about 10. It's slowly coming back, but I feel big and bulky on my runs, not fluid. I'm sure losing some weight would help, but by how much? How much would losing 10-15 pounds help my marathon time? Is 1 second per pound of weight lost a reasonable estimate?
