So, he cannot run in spikes due to pain, I believe (take a look at his big toe in the picture--that seems to be the issue). And according to the twitter OP, the proper shoes are hard to come by for him. What shoes does he need?
He's not too far off an Olympic qualifying standard; would be cool to help him get there. If anyone has more info on what shoe or size he needs, please lmk.

what might be the fastest "shoe" ever is to spray on a rubber / epoxy / grit coating to the feet, and nothing else. you would want a 1 cm layer of a nearly 100% elastic material glued on for artificial surfaces, which means concrete.
what we're talking is using good shoes versus the garbage they had to wear back in the day.

moving forward we're talking about having a shoe that allows for a natural stride. that's where the better times come from.
under these guidelines, there is no turning back, but devolution is the norm in the world, so who knows? they might have you wear snow shoes a the trans-sexual 100m event.

you need to do few years of ankle and foot exercises and deep tissue massage,
in the right way,
most people's feet are a disaster waiting to happen, tight, minor injuries, imbalance, they are not aware of, until "out of the blue" they get injured.
at the end of the day. it's far easier to strap on a vapor-fly, and go for gold.
somebody out there is going to this barefoot idea up. and if its done right and the guy has the talent of a bekele, then we're talking revolution.
