Not if they didn't know they cheated. The athlete and everyone who knew or helped him or her cheat should be banned and all winnings or titles should be erased. There is nothing to say! It makes me sick that some people still look at athletes like Mary Decker, and say she was a great champion, no she was a cheater and was suspended for it. People like that should never be idolized.

Her name should forever read drug cheat! We can speculate that others did the same and got away with it, but it's just speculation. +1 to the OP. If caught, he or she is immediately erased from all records. As if he or she never existed.

And furthermore, at the WC and OG there should be a permanent traveling wall with names of the cheaters, under their flag.

On the way to competition, each athlete should have to walk past the wall, seeing the names of the cheaters and the flag they disgraced. That might discourage them from cheating.

How did Nike know Mary Decker was a cheater? I seriously doubt it! She and the people around her knew. But Nike? That's a stretch!

Who were the insiders on the current scandal? Alberto, Rupp, Lance and Mark Parker.

Plus, Athletics West. Including Salazar using testo as an athlete.

None of that was a secret back then. Nike was quite heavily involved.

Runners in many ways are bad people who have speed(or take it, etc.,)

Imagine years ago, when I found that the older version of my namesake (first AND last) was a reformed prisoner who ran in prison.

And everyone loves him because he runs for charity.

THIS namesake has done zero time, swindled zero people and has never committed a crime at all (though i did get a seatbelt ticket, parking ticket and a speeding ticket). None of those are criminal.

Runners like who is good and would love to pretend substance bans didn't exist because they would try them too if it could get them an edge.

I enjoyed my track and xc in high school though i wasn't that quick....that was decades ago. Many of you as adults are not great people.

As an adult, I've gotten along with tennis players, basketball players, basketball coaches,etc. I've yet to find a runner who doesn't possess a self guarded edge that makes them seem incomplete.

I like to race, but yeah, runners really aren't great individuals.

But how foolish does it look to try that or other drugs to be simply a 50th place runn who can beat 150th place me who doesn't try the crap.

Age group cheats too. Anyone who cheats! If you have the $ to go from 19:30 to 17:30 or 16:30 in a very fast amount of have at it, but if you're a master and drug tested, then you too should be banned. Many masters will try to cheat; going from 19:30 to in the 17s for a dude in his late 40s or 50s will win you stuff and $ and they drug test masters now, so you should go down too. Kevin Castille might have run 16:45 clean or 17 flat or maybe slower. We just don't know. And that is the way it should be. He might have run 18 minutes clean for 5k, l mean the dude was on steroids too, so clean l would give him 17 or 18 minutes or slower.

Doping was legal then. Thowing out Babe Ruth, Michael Jordan, Bart Starr, Rodger Staubach, larry Bird, Ted Williams, etc. I guess is necessary. But get ready for a huge controversy if it happens.

Doping was never legal.

It was hidden.
