I cannot believe that he skipped running for his country to just run 13:05 in a meet that has no importance at all for him because he already has the standard. The world lacks some patriotism.

Agree
Would've been brilliant to see him taking on Jakob
But the travel would not of been easy or straight forward so makes sense on the Covid level
Good training run though.

Training for what? An upcoming championship or something?

He' just keeping it ticking over, just in case there is an Olympic Games this year. Who knows?
It was a gamble missing the Euros, but it might pay off?
How about the pacer who is American but runs for a different country? Scott didn't abandon his country.

No one cares about indoor championships - especially in an Olympic year.
One of the Brojos said something similar last night about this.

Whereas the Sound City track meet is one of the most prestigious events on the calendar
When he's retired you think he'll look back at his career and think "I'm really glad I ran that meet at that high school in California instead of representing my country?"
If skipping it helps achieve the goal of a podium finish at the Olympics, I doubt he’d mind
Olympic standard. Check
3rd fastest time in GB history (behind Mo and Moorcroft), Check
vs possible 6th or 7th place finish at Euro Indoor
Good choice

Cheptegei, Barega, Kiplimo, and Ingebritsen. How is Scott supposed to beat one of those guys when he can’t even beat his own teammate? What Scott did was scummy and people defending him are delusional.

Already had the standard. Check.
He'll run faster than 13:05 and move up on that list in the coming years. Check.
Scott just ran 13:05 and 7:36 a couple weeks ago, you really think he would've gotten 7th at euros? Check mate.
Your right he might not have made the final. He made the right choice though all things considered.
That would be a lot of travel to go to Poland and back just to race a couple 3k races that would not result in a PR, and potentially not a medal. And it would be a medal for European Championships, not world championships. Many athletes skip indoors even for world championships let alone a regional championship.
If the lack of travel to Poland helps him stay healthy and get an extra week of better training such that he qualifies safely and healthy for the olympics, that's the better move.
You don’t know which of these guys will be in the 5000m final, its months away. Scott had to factor in travel, covid testing, all for a championship with guys he’ll have a chance to race (hopefully) sometime this summer with a slew of East African athletes who haven’t had opportunities to race for sometimes over a full year.
It’s only March lol
Something I forgot about when this topic came up in the other thread - remember that when Marc Scott last left the US they wouldn't let him back in even though he had a visa and he had to quarantine in Mexico for 2 weeks.
I could totally imagine if that was your last experience travelling you wouldn't want to mess about and risk that happening again.
