How in the world is it possible that the Oregon women didn't SCORE at Pac 12s today?

When Helen Lehman-Winters/coach was hired from USF a few years ago, she bought a lot of her (international) runners with her.

They are gone now.

The cupboard appears to have just about run dry.

A League of There Own was a better movie than I thought. I watched it while growing up and before I watched it I thought to myself “this is a move about women’s baseball, why not just watch a movie about men’s baseball because they are better or watch a men’s baseball game.”

But then the movie started and it was better than some of the movies about men’s baseball that I saw. Not better than men’s baseball games just different because one is a movie and the other is a sport.

The message that women could play baseball when the men were at war was a good one as it is American. . And even though Rosie o donnell is in it she’s a good actrsss. The so called queen of nice as called by the left. Also Madonna and the woman from Point Break.

I liked Tom Hanks better in Turner and Hooch as it is one of top five movies because I believe in justice and dogs as long as the dog is nice

So if women could play baseball while men are at war, certainly One could run for Oregon during this plandemic

Very funny...it would be an amazing scene to see one approach a young lady on campus and say “You know...if women could fill in for men during WWII, then surely you could be our 5th man.....errrrrrr....woman on our XCountry Team during a freaking PANDEMIC, which is like a war, which makes me feel like a combat veteran after all. But this is not about me....Whadyaaa say?

apparently few. But when is the last time a top female recruit went there? Stanford, NC State, UNC, Arkansas, etc but no one I recall chose OR after Rainsberger - and she left.

Maybe coach went with an incomplete team because the whole team wasn’t committed, slacking, etc. And she did it to send a message.

Probably close to the truth.

Roster of 13, 4 ran XC, 3 indoors, the other 6 are Freshmen.

I've been thinking about this some more and wanted to try to clarify my thoughts. I know 2021 is an unusual year but it just seems that if OREGON of all schools doesn't think it's important to record a team score in cross country then why in the hell should any other program?

Other ADs already are like, "We're never going to be competitive as a team, let's jjust have a few good individuals."

That being said, as an ex college coach I totally understand why you would want smaller rosters. All it takes is one bad apple to ruin the bunch. If you have 20 kids, many of whom have no shot at ever being a major player (maybe they end up as the 5th woman but are only a few seconds better than your star freshman) statistics indicate you are much more likely to have one person show up in practice in a negative mood. All it takes is one doubter saying, "Coach sucks." or "Do you want to party tonight" to really bring down the momentum.

But I just think if we want our sport to be treated legitimately, we'd damn well be focused on recording team scores. And we'd never let NCAA xc and track be scheduled 2 days apart.

Get a 400 runner who ran high school xc or get an 800 runner and have them job the course to help out.

Oregon is going all in for track and its fine. Their women’s team isn’t as good as their mens right now but its 2021 and covid screwed up everything. Some teams had to choose. The NCAA screwed up with their championship dates. Most of these Oregon dudes probably want to run track over a hilly 10k course. Oregon still had to send a team. So they sent either freshman, ppl without indoor eligibility or just other randoms. But in the fall, it’ll be back to normal so idk why people are overreacting to this.

Here is the Oregon press release. It reminds me of something you'd see from a horrific program, not arguably the NCAA's most famous. There is zero explanation as to why the Oregon women didn't enter an entire team.

The local newspaper has no explanation either. And this is for a program that just built a $200 million stadium (admittedly that's track, this is xc). Can you imagine if a basketball team only played 4 players and neither the local press or school reported why they only had 4 players?
