Jakob in 3:33 with a last 400 surge
3:34, surges with 600 left
3:30. WR. Takes it out - all out- with 1200 left.
Lewandowski is gonna smoke him. It's a championship race, not some rabbited WR attempt. People here vastly overvalue Jakob's fitness because he has some good times and does well off good pacemakers leading him.
Fact is he couldn't break 1:46 last year in a perfectly paced time-trial last year and not a single of his performance showed that he got the speed to hold off someone like Lewandowski on the last 1-2 laps.
This will be a repeat of what happened 2019. The thing is there is not even one case of how the race is going to go that would favor Jakob:
1) He starts very fast from the get-go, Tim style. Lewandowski would just sit behind, take it easy and pass him at the end when Jakob is out of gas from all the frontrunning.
2) He starts a strong kick "600 left". He will bonk somewhere before the finish line and Lewandowski will be there to finish it.
3) He takes it easier and gets to 400 left with Lewandowski next to him. If Lewandowski is there with Jakob with 400 to go and it's not a crazy fast race, it's over at that point.
His best chances are if Lewandowski falls or if he gets DQed (many runners got DQed already due to stepping inside). But in a regular race, it does not look too good for him. He has to wait until Lewandowski retires before he has a chance for Gold.
Also funny that every major race LRC thinks Jakob will win. In 2019 Indoor EC, the forums were all about Jakob making the double. Then Lewandowski won. The same year, people thought he would medal for sure in Doha WC, some even thought he could challenge time. He couldn't even get top 3, once again behind Lewandowski. The mistake here is always thinking "better PR or better SB = wins", when it's actually a championship race.

you don't know what you are talking about, Jakob will beat Lewandowski by over 2 seconds

So we're just going to ignore 2018 Euro's then? Ok.
(not that I entirely disagree.)
what happened to filip ing in his heat?
Bad day for Philip. He went home today and will also not run the 3000.
Some sort of muscular issue when he tries to really sprint or push it.

Fair point, you mean the race where Lewandowski was 9th place 150m before the finish and railed in Jakob, easily catching up over 20 meters in the last 100m?
https://youtu.be/aKGVU1Nm25k?t=377He said in an interview "he mistimed his kick a bit", had he started 1s earlier he would have won that race. If anything, that race despite Jakob winning by 4/100 seconds showed that Lewandowski's speed/kick is an entire different universe than Jakob's. In following races, like indoor 2019, Lewandowski didn't mistime his kick and smoked him.
Also, in 2018 Lewandowski's 1500m PR was merely a 3:34, he was still a 800m runner back then and not fully 1500m guy. The Lewandowski of today has a 3:31 PR and a ton more racing experience in the 1500m, it's like a different person.

Dang, it is gonna look really bad for you when Jakob wins.
Jakob is supposed to be the 2nd best 1500m runner in the world. He had better win.

I don't think anyone was counting out Lewandoski in 2018. But fact is that Jakob won that race and Lewandoski didn't. Who cares if he kicked hard? He mistimed it and came up short. Jakob's strategy didn't look the best, but it won the race.
And we say he's a 3:31 guy now... great PR, but using the same logic Jakob is a 3:28 guy. So?
Again, not that I disagree, I'd take Lewandoski over Jakob. But it seems like you're suggesting that Jakob might as well be an also-ran.
Based on Jakob's performance in Lievin, this one shouldn't be close. He put like 5 seconds on Lewandowski in the last 600 or so.

I’m happy to be the first to challenge this premise; I’ll say Lewandowski finishes 4th.
1. Jakob Ingebrigtsen 3:34.6
2. Jesus Gomez
3. Neil Gourley
4. Marcin Lewandowski
5. Ignacio Fontes

If you like to look at the past then look at DL Monaco 2020 when Jakob ran alone more than 1100m. Only Filip and Wightman could hold his back. Lewandowski was far back (beaten with more than 5 seconds). Why didn´t Lew hang on oversprinting Jakob in the finish?
Or look at Lievin where Jakob again beat Lew with more than 5 seconds. Lew was far from able to keep hang on to Jakob.
--------------
If Jakob is at his best he will run away from the field in the last rounds and I am not sure if Lew will be second. The Spaniards look quite good.
We will know pretty soon.

You 2 guys (LRP and Zante ) don´t know what you are talking about!
Jakob was almost oversprinted by Lew in Berlin 2018 because the official had forgot to change the "round counter" which showed 1 more lap to go. This is well known by us who follow the sport.
Lew is not a 3:31 guy. That was in the past. He is now a high 3:33 guy. Or perhaps slower this year?
Jakob is far better now than in 2018 when he was only 17. He has improved from 3:31.18 in 2018 to 3:28.68 in 2020. And he is possibly - as usual - one more level up this year.

You arrogant moron.
So Jakob can't count. Right...
Anyway, LRP is arrogant as usual so the two of you are good for each other.
Now let's watch the race.
