Yes that would be great. and fair .. But with schools cutting sports and scholarships and money being tight as hell ( well unless you are the football or basketball team!!) then I don't see any scholarships being added anywhere.

my prediction for top 8 is as follows:
1. BYU x
2. Stanford x+4
3. NC State x+50
4. UNM x+60
5. NAU x + 65
6. Mich State x + 90
7. UMich x + 100
8. Ark x + 110
I have no clue what the winning score will be, but I think BYU will just edge Stanford, with there being a larger gap between 2&3, and a gap between 5&6.
Let's say BYU wins in a 120, my guess would be
BYU 120
Stanford 124
NC State 170
UNM 180
NAU 185
Mich State 210
UMich 220
Ark 230

NC State will be under 165

Easy now, i am expecting Chmiel to surprise people...I was responding to the Stride report which puts her at 40th. She had disappointed at her last few XC races.
With her running a pb at 5k a few weeks ago, i thought she was being seriously overlooked. Her 5k at nationals worried me a bit...bit I’m hoping she was just keeping her reserves for the xc race.
Seems like many people forget to that if it wasn’t for someone named Tuohy, she would be an NXN champ.
20th or better would be a good result for her.
I Agree!
really surprised to see Tuohy near the top...anything in the top 25 would be very unexpected
went dark - they had the top 20
now it's back up

NC State and Stanford CHOKED
Another surprise is Grace Forbes from Rice. Another Pennsylvania product that was overshadowed by her more renowned in-state competition while in high school.

How did NC State Chock????? They ran great!!!!! They were not expected to win and most said they would not even get on the podium, and they were ranked 5th and got 2nd!!!!!!! They got second with no Starliper, not a 100% Tuohy, and Dominique their #1 coming down with an illness that kept her from running for a month.
Stanford chocked, but you don't even know what your talking about when it comes to NC State. I'm a fan and thought the best they could do was 2nd today, and that is what they did. Gutsy performance from a team not at 100%, but maybe 80%.
I'm not sure I would use the term choke but they were up 7 points with 1K to go and lost by 70. Something happened. Maybe BYU went nuts. Those trained at altitude historically have a great final K.
What happened was a tough last km where separation is going to happen in a 6km race. And runners were going for it.
I know, right? It was the highest finish for NC State since 2001 per their Twitter. Definitely not a choke!

And it's not like BYU surged at the end. Orton went from 1st to 14th. But NC State just COLLAPSED.
And it's not right to say they did well for not having starliper....why weren't they able to get starliper healthy and fit to run? It's their fault they didn't have her ready. Bad coaching.
Trolling.

70 points is not normal separation.....even if they were climbing Everest. I don't discount that they went for it. I would like to think every team and runner "went for it" at nationals whether that means going out hard and struggling late, or running a smart controlled race.
Again, I am not trying to point anything out beyond giving up over 70 points in the final K of a race is certainly not normal racing that is going to happen.

Girl, calm down.
No one actually expected NC State to even make podium. 2nd place is a huge surprise, especially with such a banged up team.
I expected Stanford's top individuals to be up way higher.

How many of the geniuses (me included) on here had NC State anywhere close to 100 points? Some of them went a little too hard early on and paid for it at the end. But I don't think anyone had them in 2nd.

You are quite the tool! What's your beef with NC State? How about Tuohy! First freshman to finish, and she's not even 100%! Maybe that will shut some of you haters up? BYU? Clearly the altitude training gives them an edge. If the Pack can stay healthy, they take it next year.
