Which events are more lucrative?

He'd easily win a full-contact marathon
^this. Dude probably wouldn’t even be able to break 2:10 on his best day. Absolutely no reason for a tank like him to waste his time in the marathon.
Ultra 'Thons!!!! He'd dominate.
On another thread, someone mentioned True is just now, at this point in his career, consistently stringing together 100 mile weeks. Ben True's 27:15 is worth a 2:05:25 per the JDC. With proper marathon training at altitude, within 2 years on a flat, straight and legal course, True could put down a 2:06, thus placing him in the elite company of US marathon greats Khannouchi, Hall and Rupp. In doing so, True would be remembered like Sara Hall, turning his career into a diamond at the latter stages.
I would suggest he get in touch with the Hoka NAZ elite, but then he would have to wear HOKA's and in doing so, he would, in the words of Burnsy, be "leaving chips on the table".
Instead, True should get in contact with coach Ryan Hall for possible coaching services, and to see if a stipend from ASICS is possible, and to wear the ASICS protos that Sara is wearing.

At 5'11"Derek Clayton, "was quoted as running 160 miles per week and the times he produced were phenomenal. He became the first athlete to break the 2Hr 10 barrier, as well as the first athlete to break 2Hr 09. Thus, achieving his remarkable place in history. There was doubt on his 2:08:33 performance" in 1969.
https://www.time-to-run.com/marathon/athletes/men/derek-claytonFor better or worse, Clayton did not have the high-stack cushioned shoes of today to train in.
If True were to get up to 120+ miles a week, he would be a lean running machine. Who knows what time he could run in the marathon, but I don't think a 2:06 is outside the realm of possibility.

Sorry, Derek Clayton was 160 lbs at 6'2" (per the article I linked). It is Robert (Deek) de Castella that is 5'11".
Meb had the 10K AR at 27:13 and never has broken 2:09 in the Marathon, although he never ran any of the flat, fast paced majors.

Meb is a good data point for comparison, because in 2014, at the age of 39, Keflezighi ran a 2:08:37 at Boston, in the era before high-stack 'super shoes'. Wearing the latter, on a flat fast course, what do you think Meb could have run?
Take your calculator and shove it. He has zero chance of running 2:06 ever.
It's okay, Ben. Teg said he would never run a 10k, too.
so did you mean is the end of Ben True we didn't see him in the marathon anymore? :(

Meb actually ran the 2009 London Marathon and finished 9th in 2:09:21. He may not have had the best top end speed of his generation but he was one of the smartest and best tactical racers of his time.
Meb could have run 2:06 on a good day and even faster with Vaporflys. However Ben True is not Meb.
Maybe hope for the best, I have a question if you get the chance to choose a shoe for a marathon run which brand of shoes you choose and why?
Great interview with Steve Cram - says Jakob has no chance of WRs this year
