She just keeps getting better. She crushed the field in the AAU national championships on a whim last fall and she pushed the likely XC champ for 5900 meters yesterday. She looks to be the next Dani Jones, with great range from 800-5k and cross country. I think she will finish about 3rd this XC season and then go on a ridiculous run in outdoor track and everything else in the future.
Dudek is the Next Great NCAA Runner

She is in a group of probably 5 who could win this year. That would shock the Letsrun community who seem to be overlooking her.
-
I would put her as my favorite at this point.
-
Maybe. We shall see.
-
Letsrun seems to have a habit of overlooking athletes from Michigan... you’d think that they would eventually know better.
-
Good point.

I kept saying that she was the best cross runner her senior year of xc(or at least the best championship performance) too but people on this board kept trying to insist otherwise. She will prove her greatness over the next few ncaa seasons -
She is a good bet to finish top-5 and be the first true freshman. I think right now she could win the 3K which i think is her sweet spot in terms of distance currently.

You can tell by the amount of traffic regarding her as compared to Tuohy, that most posters don't care about performance once they become fixated on a particular runner. Tuohy had the best high school cross country career of all time even though Dudek may have had a better overall senior season. Watching Dudek run this year and watching Tuohy run today, I agree with you that it appears that Dudek has a better future. Time will tell and even if true, it will probably be a year before the Tuohy threads die off.

Michiganders are tough as nails
-
You guys spend an awful lot of time worrying about the interest people have in other runners instead of just appreciating the athletes you are fans of.
I insisted otherwise because it simply was not true. Dudek had a xc loss late that season. Barely beat Hart in the other regional final. Had lower speed ratings all year. If she wanted to be considered the best she knew where the real race was, although it was freezing and miserable so I'm not sure I blame her. Starliper gave it a go, and probably cost herself the Footlocker title. And no one that year ran better than Tuohy did at Club Nationals (I think it was unofficially speed rated at 172) a week after NXN.
As who has a better NCAA career, who knows. I never root against people. Well mostly. -

Um, she's Polish. -
Wait. Did you just say that? I don't think I have ever seen one individual on these boards spend more time trying to convince other people why Hutchins shouldn't be considered the fastest high school cross country runner and track runner of all time. If you don't care what people think of their girl Hutchins, you shouldn't have posted 100 times about her. Gees. Worry about your girl Tuohy on your own time and let people enjoy the current studs.

I hit the target.
Yes I will comment on records and my opinion of their relative merit. Sorry. -
DA DAM, DA DAM... what's that sound?
DA DAM, DA DAM... I hear footsteps.
Dudek has only 2 meets left to try to become Stanford's #1, as next year DaDamio is arriving. She is home grown Michigan tough, and has just obliterated Dudek's mile and 3200 records. She is improving dramatically as a senior, so nothing can stop her from going straight to the top of the NCAA.
The following year Hutchins and Van der kooi will arrive, so Dudek will be struggling to make top 5, and that's when the obligatory Stanford stress fracture and regression training kick in. She will disappear for 2 years and then miraculously return for her 5th year to finish 147th at NCAA meet.
Speaking of regression, somehow Stanford has gone from early season favorite to falling off the podium behind BYU, Arkansas and New Mexico, and there are a couple promising freshmen on the Lobos, who look on video to have a brighter future than Dudek. -
If you are a Michigan, why wouldn't you pull for Dudek and Dadamio to dominate together? If Hutchins heads to Stanford, that team looks unbeatable for several years. The Letsrun community thought NC State would be that team but it does not appear to be the case.

Then she's doubly tough, as Polish are some of the hardest core cultures on the planet.

It's hard to predict the future, but bear in mind she's done all of this while starting cross country as a teenager , she's taking a minute off her PRs at a time. She won the European under 20 championships with nobody even knowing her name just a couple of years after starting to run. who knows maybe she'll plateau, but her trajectory is far better than anybody else in the game right now. I sure as heck wouldn't doubt her. She's such a positive upbeat person, combine with a ton of talent, who knows.

Oh definitely not rooting against anyone . Just when it came time to recognize the runners at the end of the season everyone thought dyestat was crazy. If I remember correctly Tuohy even commented lol on their instagram page when they published their list. But dudek ran fast on a historic course so I didn't think it was crazy to out her #1. As a stat nerd I like seeing the competition go up over the years and breaking all the performances down. And footlocker is always going to be the real race for me for individuals but I see why the nike one is appealing -
But so did two other runners that same race and she won by thismuch over a runner that lost at NXN. Nor was the speed rating higher than Katelyns that year or even that week. (Lol). Just seemed like special pleading.
No one knows how a runner on the women's side progresses. Injuries, plus a slow period as the body readjusts. That is why I dont care how freshmen year goes. The queation is longterm.
