Alan Webb obviously ran an otherworldly 3:53 outdoors. However, Alan Webb also notoriously trained like an animal, was pretty matured physically, and seemed to struggle mentally in the biggest championship races.
In comes Hobbs Kessler. Most of us didn't know anything about this kid last week. Now he's on everybody's radar. He ran almost even splits in his indoor record until a blistering last lap (and last 50m). He is very fresh, apparently well-undertrained, and seems to have a cool even head for races. He also isn't obsessed with running, also enjoying - and excelling in - competitive rock climbing.
In case you haven't seen his race, you can watch it here:

His smooth, efficient, compact stride indicates a natural gait that other all-time high school milers didn't seem to quite have. Hobbs appears to have very strong anaerobic ability. I'm gonna say he's "the most talented high school miler ever," although I know those terms may require further defining.
What do yall think?
