I am planning on running my first marathon this fall and hope to run about 2:35ish. Was thinking that running a 10k 1 month out would be a good final fitness test to see where I'm at. I thought I'd essentially race the 10k just without sprinting at the end (wouldn't want to somehow injure myself that close to my target marathon). 10k to marathon isn't a great conversion, but if I'm in marathon shape (rather than specifically 10k shape), I still feel like it would give me a good indication of where I'm at and what also give me confidence in my training.
Thoughts?
