Faster than Don Ritchie ever ran on the road. Impressive.
Sorry, my phone browser crashed... seems i created 2 accidentially ;-)

Don ran 6:10 on a track 42 years ago. A treadmill isn't either of those and most importantly the distance can't be accurately measured.
These treadmill athletes are so lame, just searching for clout artificially yet never produce when real races are on the line. This Florian guy, Mario Mendoza and Tyler Andrews are all good on a treadmill but somehow can't touch the times in actual races on actual terrain. Why? Treadmills are not accurate people, stop with the fake pro runners on treadmills YUCK

Actually the Florian guy is a top runner and he has produced a real 6:49 I think.

Exactly how far off are the treadmills and is there a chance they can be calibrated and certified? If these guys are pros and going for records, isn't there any regulations followed or testing of equipment post "record" before ratification?
2nd question: Ever run 100k on a treadmill? How about 100k anywhere? How fast? I hate treadmill running. Atmospheric conditions, mental fatigue, no downhills, physical effects of landing on a moving surface etc....
Last point: I know one of the guys mentioned. He races professionally on mountain trails, not tracks or roads. Personally, I think what he can do in the mountains is amazing. He is on a national team representing the USA and has won a World Championship wearing the colors. Yes, he steps on a treadmill when he absolutely can't get outside to train due to snow. The treadmill records are a way to get the sponsor name out there too. Keeps them buying your groceries in the winter months too.
I just don't get the griping about what other people are doing. Why is it so offensive to some.
Nothing personal, I'd just like to hear a reasonable explanation.
Can't people have fun with a non traditional endeavor? What about the Barkley?
These records are lame because there is no actual calibration process that can create a fair playing field. Its known that treadmills allow people with high vertical oscillation to actually run less than calculated distance but also its known that different treadmills give you different distances even at same exact pace. Plus, many of these treadmill attempts are worthless as these athletes don't even compete at a high level in real races. Which guy are you talking about whom won a world title? I named 3 peep and none of them have won an actual world title, not one. Maybe you mean they were on a team that won a medal? Big difference buddy..
Top? I just looked up his results to make sure I wasn't wrong. Nope the guy is not top. He doesn't even podium at competitive events. Western States just a few yrs back he was 35th and lost to 10 ladies. His most recent world championships was at Xterra and he was way off the top guys and almost lost to the top lady in a half marathon. For German standards maybe he is top but in the US of A this guy wouldn't even be known.

What?
He beat Walmsley by a lot in Winschoten 2015. 9th in the 100k World Championships. Walms was 28th!
https://statistik.d-u-v.org/getresultevent.php?event=24272Who cares if he beat walm, he was not on the podium as I stated... next! I still remember Florian ran behind multiple women at the sierre zinal, he was over 30mins behind the top men! Top? For a transgender athlete maybe

I guess thats a BIG NO as to whether you've ever run 100k. Which doesn't make you an expert except maybe "vertically oscillating" your pud.
Treadmill records are up there with fastest marathon in a superhero costume.
Sorry but you guys are a joke - 6:26 is an amazing time.
I doubt that more than 1 or 2 us runners (plus Walmsley) could run that time on a treadmill.
Neuschwander is a really good ulra (trail) runner and he got much better lately. He would prolly have run 6:20 - 6:25 in a 100k road race. On top of that he is already 39 years old.
I am really looking forward to see him break the german 100k road record (6:24:xx) within the next 12 months.
He got a lot better and would have run faster in a real race? Get out of the crack lab son haha treadmills are the fastest surface and easiest way to run fast times because for one, they aren't calibrated properly, no wind resistance, due to vertical oscillation one doesn't run the actual distance the treadmill reads. Racing is the only true way to prove what you can and can't do, not a dam treadmill

Yes and no. Florian is a very good runner. But treadmills are not a good indicator of anything.
Keep in mind that the floor moves for you. And then there are calibration issues as well.
But maybe these kind of things are needed to make somebody mentally strong enough to go for a sub 6:24 time, for example.

So, tell us which treadmill guy went around saying he was better than the top track or road racing guys. Then tell us which top track or road racing guy gave any indication that they'd really like to shut those treadmill guys yaps up once and for all.
Neither happen... You sound like you wish you had something to hang your hat on though.
By your logic and words...if treadmills aren't calibrated accurately, is there a chance that these guys are actually running further than 100k?
Now get back to vertically oscillating yourself.

Ooooh burn.
Although, I do agree there are a lot of useless records.
I don't really understand why anyone would want to run 100km on a treadmill when you could run it outside.

1) a treadmill can be ideal conditions, so it isn't surprising somebody could run their fastest on one.
2) in the case of Mario's run, his treadmill runs have all been to raise money for charities...
