Brooks Mach 19 - can you run road races with these?

    I ordered a pair of these for the XC season expecting to run mostly on trails. However, it looks like most of the courses I'll run on will be mostly pavement/asphalt. The Mach 19s are about 50 percent plastic on the bottom which is why I'm a little concerned. Does anyone have some experience racing with these shoes on primarily pavement and asphalt?

    I would think it would be terrible, I hear they're good on xc courses but not on the road by my assumption due to the plastic.

    Those are flimsy enough on grass and dirt already, get some thinner road flats instead.

    They do sell a spikeless rubberized version.
