I know that Mr. Lindgren has all the appearances of not being quite all there...
Follow my logic:
1. The guy ran a 4:01 mile in HS, he had incredible talent.
2. He would go on all-day training runs, and would sometimes run 3 times a day.
3. Fast times in shorter races off of immense volume training.
Off of incredible 200 mile weeks (maybe even nearing 300), which I think is credible if we are to say that we know anything at all about his training, he would still run 2-mile-10k races at what were world class times. He TIED Billy Mills in a 6 mile WR, kicking stride for stride down the straight a year after Mills demolished the field in Tokyo. The time converts to faster than Ron Clark's 10k WR at the time. He could punish Pre and Liquori in a 2 mile after a week of high mileage at Lake Tahoe. We have to understand that when Gerry said "high mileage," he really meant it.
4. Do you have a problem thinking that if Yuki Kawauchi was more talented, and used his training style, but even more so, he wouldn't be able to compete with the top marathoners in the world? That's basically what we are talking about.
5. Super shoes, I rest my case.
