As long as Sydney is still part of the team. That’s all I care about.

This is Tinman Track Club, not Tinman Elite. Syndey is apart of TE
Which team is Charlie Lawrence coaching?

This is the kind of folly you can wind up in when adults pay someone to tell them how to run. I'm not talking about newbies or true pro level, either. If you've been running for a few years and paying attention then you should be able to figure out training cycles and workout patterns pretty easily. Most of the cats in TTC have been at it 8+ years, running competitively through high school and college, and should know better. Just enjoy running with your friends, quit making it so complicated.

Seems like TTC was supposed to be a minor league team for Tinman Elite. Sub elite type standards. Come to Boulder without a contract and support and chase the dream. Seems like some might have been convinced it was more than it was. The true elite team is going to take the best runners they can get and probably passed on a lot of TTC members. Now they're stuck in Boulder, they know how to train, and they probably don't want to pay for coaching when they feel bitter about the whole situation. Seems fine to part ways. Not a huge story.

This captures the gist of it, but some of them preceded (Tom's) arrival to Boulder, i.e., they did not move there just to join TTC (but as you can see in this thread some did). Looking at this maybe one or more did meet the elite standards but were not taken up by TE for not being E enough. And maybe--just speculating--(Tom) decided that he did not want to work with these athletes anyway. So they are now on their own but have a nice little training pod.
Think many of them already lived in Boulder and joined the group when Tom arrived there.
I don’t understand the hate. What’s wrong with a group of people training together and meeting up for runs? What’s wrong with having a coach? I’m sure Shelby or Lopez or Centro have an idea of what works for them but they all still have a coach. Come to think of it, pretty much every elite distance runner throughout history has had or does have a coach.
Pretty much the same thing happened a couple years ago with Hudson and Hudson Elite, they wanted him far more than he wanted them. So he dumped them. Same thing also happened with Jonesey and Boulder Express before that. Good news is that in Boulder there are plenty of self-styled coaches willing to take people's money to tell them what they already know about running and make them feel special. It's going to be okay, soft kittens. Though your high school coach, college coach, and next three coaches held you back this is finally the one to take you to your major breakthrough to the big time elite ranks!
I dont think so but I dont wrote:

You are right and the guy who said they should just train themselves is wrong.
Sure, after many years of running and training they probably do have a good base of training knowledge. However, application of that knowledge, to themselves, only being able to see through their own eyes, is very limiting. Thus, the reason every elite has one (or more) coaches.
The guy who said they should just train themselves shares a common view in this generation though. Watch a YouTube video, read a book, and suddenly you are a coaching genius. But coaching (and performing as an athlete) is at most half science/training knowledge and is at least (and likely more than) half art/psychology.
To work really well, both perspectives (athlete and coach) need to work together to find the right answers for each athlete. But to have any goals and go without a good coach that fits the athlete is to leave 50-70% of performance on the table. Which is why, again, elites (who have some of the greatest bases of training experience and knowledge) still have coaches.
Hey if they want to throw money at a fantasy, have at it. They definitely have my pity if any of them laid out for the TME singing bowl or that ghetto TME gold chain and pendant.

Lol, unprofessional, like the competition status of all but one of Tinmans runners
hehehehe
More like all of Tinmans runners
Who are you, their new coach? Check yourself because you and I are talking about two different things here, chief. This is a squarely sub-elite group, no more no less. People bringing up names like Lopez, Shelby, and Centro are clearly confused about that fact. That's just silly, those are the names of champions. Hell, people on this board try to make the case that some of the TME guys aren't really pro level elites. The elite runners in Boulder are on OAC, Team Boss, Roots Running, TME, plus Ian Butler and Jake Riley. Not TTC and the rest of the horde of thirsty hangers-on. Lynstadd has some nice accomplishments, probably the best of that bunch, but like she said she's a school teacher with no sponsorship. Few of us knew any Pan Am XC roster members until reading this thread. Anyway these are all college educated people and they aren't doing this for a living, not even close, so they truly should be able to figure out training progression pretty easily themselves. But if they want to waste money on coaches like Tinman then good for those coaches' bank accounts.
Awesome to hear you are doing all of this as a high school teacher. Good luck going forward, as a fellow high school teacher I will be pulling for you.
Why would any woman want to be a part of a group of fraternity boys? This is not a group or coach that respects woman and they promote this in nearly all of their social media.
Tansey should be pleased to move along.
Agree, this is actually a progressive move for her and all in TTC. Wish her only the best and also agree that it's inspiring that she's done this well as a blue collar runner. I'll root for her over anyone on Team Boss or OAC.
Good for them. As for the idea that a coach is unnecessary, I'd say that the pros know what they are doing, as do the collegians and hs'ers with good programs. Good coaches (and teammates) make runners better than they can do on their own, even though it is the case that all the information is out there about training programs, etc.
