What do you talk about when you talk about running? What would you rather see on the advanced running sub?
Advanced running should at least be running at a level that would be competitive in college. Right now there is a guy running 40 mpw saying he doesn't think high mileage is running, the guy who ran a 10k in the 36s, a guy thinking about quitting running (we have one of those here too lol), a thread asking what a guy's prs could be by someone training 30 mpw, etc. along with a few threads that belong. We get people like that here, but I don't browse running boards to hear from noobs every day. I want serious running discussion as well as a mix of off topic discussion by runners - not qanon conspiracy nuts.
I mean if there are like 300 DI running programs with 10 top quality runners each, you have a pool of 3000 advanced runners right there. Then let's just say another 1000 in the other college divisions. Then let's add the pool of 1000 post-collegiate runners that could reasonably get an OTQ qualifier. For posterity, let's throw in a few thousand more to give a round number 10,000 potential quality posters for an advanced forum.
That's simply not enough numbers to sustain a quality online forum. You are going to have to accept the hobby joggers gumming up a running forum if you want to have a sustainable and vibrant online forum.
As for the off topic stuff, that's the lifeblood of this board and it will not be going away. They could do a better job of limiting the political threads, though. Those used to be pretty much banned by things were loosened up during the era of Trump.
