It is -16(feels like -25)Celsius today, I still run. It’s not super comfortable but I don’t feel it is dangerous for my health. What about you guys?
For my USA friends, -16c = 3.2f. And with the wind -25c = -13f

About 0F was my limit when I was living in altitude.
Of course it also matters if you run in sunshine or at night.
But I always took it easy on really cold days.
I got frost bit on my bicycle as a kid and it was not that cold then. So I am a bit more careful.
There is no benefit in playing the hero when you can get long term damage.
Around 55° F
I like to run in the heat, 70s, 80s, shirtless. Hate layers, I just switch to the gym full time at that point. I resume running outdoors around March.
Here in northern Indiana if it is under 10 degrees or 0 wind chill I will get on a treadmill. I have a difficult time keeping hands/fingers warm enough. It also depends on the run I have planned.
Whenever there is a fear of frost bite.

I dress in layers. 2 pairs socks, gloves, hat ect.. I use an old washcloth for a cod piece, this really helps.
I wear shorts down to twenty degrees then switch to tights. Although if it's windy I'll switch to tights sooner. It's a bit different for everyone. It depends on your comfort level. I hope this helps.

First, I doubt you have any friends whatsoever.
I stop running if I see you on the trails to get a good snowball and chuck it your way.
Last week it was -22F and I still ran outside. Here in Minnesota, the rule is that as long as it is not slippery, you will likely be going outside.
Yes

And we know that Greg has no friends either.
There is no fear for a snowball from Greg because he doesn't get his acs out of the door anyway.

Yes thank you!

Yeah, it only confirms what I think, he’s a psycho individual. He does not know what I look like but we all know what he looks like so I’m alright for now I guess.
I tap out around 0 degrees Fahrenheit but it depends on the day really. If I’m supposed to do a long run with a group of guys I’ll still get outside but if I have something like an easy hour by myself I’ll opt for the treadmill.

Wow you’re a trooper! I find I have a harder maintaining good breathing techniques when it gets close to -30c(-22f)
Good job on that -22F Minnesota Runner. Here in Wisconsin my coldest was 4.5 miles at -18F at age 65. Warmest run was 101.
Since I’m quite rich,
I live in California and i still run when it’s a frigid 44 degrees in the early morning. It never goes below that here. Not sure why you dorks don’t live here. There is snow on the mountains here now but it’s still 45 where I’m at. Being rich is quite nice. If you guys were rich you’d live here also. Only the poor don’t live here.

That’s amazing!
Haven't hit a temperature cold enough yet to stop me. It does slow me down and shorten runs of course. Workouts in sub 20F become 'effort based'.
My coldest here in Michigan was February 1993 ambient air temp -22 Fahrenheit or -30 Celsius. My log book says I did 6 miles that morning.
Now that I am retired, I do wait until it is at least sunup and hopefully positive temps - I find running in snowy and icy to be more difficult than running in the cold. Thunderstorms are actually more disconcerting.
Just dress accordingly; mask , mitts layers, etc. Adjust your expectations and don't be a wimp (like Greg - haha!)

Hahahaha, thanks! Frost bites don’t scare me because I’m always dressed properly and I listen to my body. It’s my breathing that I struggle with when it gets close to -30c. It seems that I have difficulties taking deeper breaths to slow my heart down....
I hate the cold. I have preferred running in 45C than in 0C.
